Russia to Continue Ukraine Talks With US After Kremlin Meeting
Moscow confirms sustained high-level contacts with Washington on Ukraine following the Anchorage summit, reaffirming Russia’s positions and negotiated understandings.
Russia | PUREWILAYAH.COM - Russia has confirmed that contacts with the United States regarding the situation in Ukraine will continue at multiple levels, following a recent visit by a US delegation to the Kremlin.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that discussions remain active and ongoing, indicating a dynamic negotiating environment. Aleksey Polishchuk, head of the ministry’s Second CIS Department (2CISD), told RIA Novosti that Moscow and Washington agreed to maintain engagement on the Ukrainian issue.
“It was agreed that contacts on the Ukrainian issue would continue at various levels. Thus, the negotiating situation is in a fairly fluid state,” Polishchuk said.
Putin Hosts US Envoys in Extended Kremlin Talks
Russian President Vladimir Putin held an extended late-night meeting at the Kremlin with US envoys, focusing on Ukraine, economic cooperation, and peace initiatives.
The talks were described as significant by Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries. Dmitriev confirmed his participation alongside senior Russian officials.
“Important Russia–US discussion in the Kremlin today. President Vladimir Putin received Peacemakers Steven Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Josh Gruenbaum. President aide Yury Ushakov and myself also participated,” Dmitriev wrote on X.
Dialogue Anchored in Anchorage Summit Understandings
Polishchuk emphasized that Moscow’s approach in ongoing talks is grounded in previously stated Russian positions and the understandings reached during the Anchorage summit between President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in August 2025.
“During such contacts, the Russian side relies on the well-known positions outlined by the Russian President in June 2024 and the compromise understandings reached in Alaska in August 2025,” he said.
Putin and Trump met in Anchorage on August 15, 2025, for discussions aimed at resolving the Ukraine conflict. Both leaders characterized the summit as constructive, with Putin later underscoring Russia’s interest in achieving a long-term settlement. (PW)
