Russia Shares Evidence of Foiled Drone Attack on Putin Residence
Moscow Says Ukrainian UAV Swarm Targeted President’s Valdai Home Amid Western Escalation
Russia, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Russia’s Ministry of Defense has announced that it formally shared evidence with the United States proving that a large-scale Ukrainian drone operation earlier this week was directed at the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod Region.
According to Russian officials, the attack involved 91 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched on the night of December 28–29, all of which were intercepted and destroyed by Russian air defense systems before reaching their target.
The Defense Ministry described the incident as a premeditated terrorist attack planned by the Kiev regime against the Russian head of state.
Recovered Flight Data Confirms Target
In a statement released Thursday, the Russian Ministry of Defense said Russian special services recovered intact navigation data from one of the downed Ukrainian drones.
“The extracted flight plan clearly indicates that the ultimate target of the UAV strike was one of the facilities located at the Russian president’s residence in Novgorod Region,” the ministry stated.
Russian experts concluded that the drone swarm had been programmed with precise routing toward the Valdai complex, leaving no ambiguity regarding its intended objective.
Evidence Handed to US Embassy
Later the same day, Moscow confirmed that the recovered evidence was officially handed over to a representative of the military attaché section at the US Embassy in Moscow.
The move was presented as a direct notification to Washington of Kiev’s escalation, amid growing concerns that Western-backed Ukrainian actions are deliberately expanding the scope of the conflict and targeting political leadership.
Video Footage and Eyewitness Accounts
On Wednesday, the Defense Ministry released video footage allegedly showing one of the intercepted long-range Ukrainian drones, damaged at the tail section by Russian air defenses but largely intact.
Russian military officials said eyewitness accounts from residents in the Novgorod Region, who observed air defense systems engaging targets overnight, directly contradict claims by Western and anti-Russian media that no such attack occurred.
Kiev Denial, Washington Reaction
Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has denied that the drone raid took place, dismissing Moscow’s claims despite the presented technical evidence.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump reportedly expressed anger over the incident during a phone conversation with Putin, according to Kremlin foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov.
The Kremlin stated earlier that the drone attack was aimed not only at Putin personally, but also at undermining Trump’s declared efforts to advance a negotiated settlement to the Ukraine conflict.
International Concern Over Escalation
Several countries, including China, India, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan, have voiced concern over the attempted strike on the Russian president’s residence, warning that such actions risk further destabilizing regional and global security.
Russian officials have framed the incident as a dangerous escalation enabled by sustained Western military, intelligence, and political backing for Kiev—an approach Moscow says threatens diplomatic efforts and pushes the conflict toward broader confrontation. (PW)
