Russia Proposes Creation of BRICS Food Diplomacy Centre
New institution to strengthen global food security and coordinate BRICS food trade policies
Russia, PUREWILAYAH.COM - A Centre for Food Diplomacy should be established under the National Committee for BRICS Research to coordinate the implementation of decisions concerning the development of food export and import supplies among BRICS countries.
This proposal was highlighted by Dmitry Bulatov, President of the National Food Exporters Union, during an interview with TV BRICS.
According to Bulatov, the proposed center could address key aspects of international trade sustainability.
He explained that such an initiative should enshrine principles that foster the stability of agricultural trade, eliminate existing barriers, and expand access to food for populations in need across the globe.
Russia’s Key Role in Food Security
Bulatov emphasized Russia’s significant contribution to global food security. He noted that Russia currently ranks first in the world in wheat exports and stands among the leading global suppliers of grain.
The expert also pointed out that Russia's agricultural sector has not yet reached its full production and export capacity. This, he said, presents an opportunity for the country to further solidify its position in addressing the world's pressing food security challenges. (PW)
