Russia Condemns Israeli Aggression Against Iran, Says Tel Aviv Has No Right to Enforce Regime Change
Zakharova condemned Israel’s ongoing bombing campaign against Iran, accusing West Jerusalem of attempting to engineer a “regime change” in violation of international law
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - In a strongly worded statement on Wednesday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned Israel’s ongoing bombing campaign against Iran, accusing Tel Aviv of attempting to engineer a “regime change” in violation of international law.
Speaking to RT host Rick Sanchez, Zakharova criticized the West’s silence and hypocrisy in enabling Israeli aggression. “Israel has no justification for trying to bring about regime change in Iran through its bombing campaign,” she stated.
Zakharova: West Abandons Its Own Principles to Defend Israel
Zakharova denounced what she called the selective morality of Western states. “West Jerusalem’s backers conveniently forget about all the legal and moral principles they claim to defend the moment they’re called upon to support the Jewish State,” she said.
She questioned the legitimacy of the attacks. “What has Iran done wrong? What is it being bombed for?” she asked, pointing out that Tehran has not attacked Israel.
Tehran’s Nuclear Program Not a Justification for War
Israel has claimed its attacks are aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons — a claim Iran has consistently denied. Zakharova pushed back firmly, stating that Iran’s nuclear program is a matter for international law and diplomacy, not unilateral military action.
“Whether you like a regime or you don’t, if it doesn’t attack you… you have no right to change that regime,” she said.
Zakharova also questioned Israel’s credibility, challenging it to provide proof that Iran is close to developing weapons of mass destruction.
“We’ve heard multiple statements from Israel that they have proof that Iran is one step away from creating weapons of mass destruction. Why can’t they just show the documents?” she asked, casting doubt on the validity of Israeli claims.
Mounting Civilian Casualties as West Turns a Blind Eye
Zakharova criticized Western countries for turning a blind eye to the human cost of the conflict. “Israel is bombing Iran, and the Western world keeps saying that Israel has the right to do so.
The West seems to have forgotten in an instant about human rights, about children… in the midst of hell,” she lamented.
According to Iranian officials, Israeli strikes have killed at least 224 people, including 74 women and children, and injured 1,800 since the start of hostilities. Israel, meanwhile, claims that Iranian missile strikes have killed 24 civilians and injured nearly 600. (PW)
