Rezai: Iran Will Not Allow America to Escape the Region Through a “Show Action”
Senior Iranian commander says Washington seeks a face-saving exit through the Strait of Hormuz after failing to impose its objectives against Iran
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Senior Iranian commander Major General Mohsen Rezai stated that Iran will not allow the United States to use the issue of reopening the Strait of Hormuz as a symbolic operation to escape the region after failing to achieve victory against Iran.
Speaking in an interview with Al Mayadeen cited by Tasnim News Agency, Rezai stated that Washington is attempting to stage a controlled political and military spectacle around maritime security in the Strait before withdrawing from West Asia without paying the price for the war it launched against Iran.
“We will not allow the United States to end this by fleeing the region,” Rezai said. “America must compensate Iran for the damages it caused.”
He stressed that Tehran would continue pursuing compensation and strategic gains regardless of whether Washington attempts a military or political retreat from the region.
Hormuz Has Become a Battlefield
Rezai stated that the United States and Israel used the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf against Iran during the recent war, describing the waterway as directly tied to Iran’s national security and regional defense posture.
According to him, Washington attempted to preserve its dominance in the Persian Gulf after failing to weaken Iran militarily.
“The Persian Gulf must remain an independent region,” he stated. “It cannot become part of future equations between the United States and China.”
Rezai emphasized that Iran considers securing trade routes in the region part of its responsibility, while warning that maintaining security in the Strait carries costs that Tehran intends to impose through a new regional balance.
He also stated that the United States seeks to preserve influence in the region after decades of military intervention and strategic failure.
America Facing Strategic Isolation
Rezai described the war against Iran as “not only foolish, but ignorant,” saying Washington failed to impose its objectives despite massive military escalation and direct involvement alongside Israel.
He further stated that the United States is becoming increasingly isolated internationally, including among its own traditional allies.
According to Rezai, the region is moving toward a new order in which regional countries themselves — not foreign powers — determine security arrangements.
“We do not want to become pawns in a conflict between East and West,” he said. “The countries of the region must secure their own future.”
The developments surrounding the Strait of Hormuz increasingly reflect Washington’s struggle to preserve its collapsing regional influence after failing to break Iran through war and military escalation. (PW)
