Reviving the Voice of Truth: Reflections on the Duty of Clarification — Truth Promoters' Arbaeen Program
The pulpit, is not limited to a wooden structure in a mosque. It includes any space—physical or digital—where truth is spoken or obscured.
GLOBAL, PUREWILAYAH.COM — On the solemn first night of the Truth Promoters’ Arbaeen 2025/1447 program, an international online audience joined in a deeply spiritual and intellectually stirring gathering broadcast live via YouTube.
The evening unfolded in a structured sequence of sacred content: Qur’an recitation, poetic couplets, a central lecture by Sheikh Shabbir Hassanally, a maqtal narrative, noha/latmiya presentation, and the communal recitation of Ziyarat Arbaeen.
This Arbaeen series is a direct continuation of the Ashura Program held during the nights of Muharram, also led by Sheikh Shabbir Hassanally and hosted by Truth Promoters. Together, the two series offer a comprehensive journey through the spiritual, intellectual, and revolutionary dimensions of Karbala.
Clarification: A Sacred Duty Beyond the Pulpit
In the keynote address, Sheikh Shabbir Hassanally delivered a compelling lecture on the theme of Tabyeen—clarification—as a divinely mandated responsibility. He emphasized that this duty applies to all believers, especially those granted a public voice or religious influence.
Sheikh Shabbir explained that clarification means exposing falsehood, guiding others to divine truth, and ensuring that spiritual guidance aligns with the Qur’an and the teachings of the Prophet and his Ahl al-Bayt. He warned against turning the pulpit into a platform for ego, performance, or false authority.
“The pulpit,” he said, “is not limited to a wooden structure in a mosque. It includes any space—physical or digital—where truth is spoken or obscured.” He urged communities to seek knowledge with sincerity, ask critical questions, and measure all guidance by its alignment with revelation, not by the speaker’s title or charisma.
Sheikh Shabbir also addressed the silence of scholars in the face of injustice. He cautioned that remaining silent while falsehood prevails is a betrayal of truth, and that real wisdom lies in having the courage to speak with evidence, patience, and sincerity.

From Karbala’s Battlefield to the Jihad of Clarification
The maqtal segment of the majlis recounted the tragic aftermath of the Battle of Karbala, describing the desecration of Imam Hussain’s body, the burning of tents, and the captivity of the women and children of the Prophet’s household.
Central to this retelling was the resilience of Sayyeda Zainab (sa) and Imam Ali ibn Hussain (as-Sajjad), who turned captivity into a platform for Jihad al-Tabyeen—the struggle of clarification.
Their speeches in the courts of Kufa and Damascus ensured that the legacy of Karbala would not be erased, but rather preserved as a beacon for justice, truth, and divine resistance through the ages.

Communion of Ziyarat Arbaeen
The evening concluded with a contemplative Communion of Ziyarat Arbaeen, inviting all participants to spiritually connect with Imam Hussain and his companions. “Friend of the Flame”
This opening stanza offered a poetic tribute to Imam Hussain, portraying him as the beloved and purified friend of God. It reflected on the tragedy that befell him—not at the hands of idol-worshippers, but through betrayal and silence from those who outwardly prayed yet inwardly strayed.
The stanza mourned the shedding of his sacred blood by a society hollowed by ritual and detached from true monotheism, setting the tone for a deeper moral reckoning and spiritual renewal.
