Rajab Friday: Yemenis Renew Pledge of Steadfastness and Support for Al-Aqsa and the Holy Qur’an
Mass Events Across Sana’a and Free Provinces Reaffirm Yemen’s Faith-Based Identity and Commitment to Confronting Zionist-American Aggression
Yemen, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Large-scale religious and popular events swept the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, and free provinces on the first Friday of the blessed month of Rajab, reaffirming the depth of Yemen’s faith-based identity and its spiritual and historical bond with Islam.
The events, including major activities organized by the General Authority of Endowments, were held at key locations such as the Great Mosque of Sana’a and Halqah Market in Old Sana’a, transforming Rajab Friday into a comprehensive spiritual station for renewing steadfastness and advancing the path of supporting the Ummah.
“The Qur’an Is the Foundation of Our Identity”
Held under the slogan “The Qur’an Is the Foundation of Our Identity,” the gatherings underscored Yemenis’ responsibility toward Islamic sanctities and the Palestinian cause, affirming that faith, resistance, and commitment to justice remain inseparable from Yemeni identity.
The central event at the Great Mosque of Sana’a was attended by Acting Prime Minister Mohammed Muftah, alongside a large gathering of scholars, officials, and celebrants.
The occasion coincided with the anniversary of Yemen’s entry into Islam, giving Rajab Friday a unique and celebratory character deeply rooted in Yemen’s collective memory.
Yemen’s Voluntary Embrace of Islam Remembered
Speakers emphasized the profound significance of Rajab Friday as one of the most important religious milestones unique to the Yemeni people. Yemenis were congratulated on this occasion and described as the “descendants of Aws and Khazraj,” who embraced Islam willingly—by conviction, not coercion—and without submission by the sword.
Mohammed Muftah highlighted that Yemen’s ancestors supported the Islamic message at its dawn and made immense sacrifices. Today, under current conditions, he showed that the Yemeni people and their wise leadership continue that same path of support, resistance, and sacrifice.
Participants recalled the Prophet Muhammad’s saying, “Faith is Yemeni and wisdom is Yemeni,” stressing that this prophetic attribution reflects the strength of Yemen’s faith and its enduring connection to Islam—values embodied today through steadfastness, devotion to God, loyalty to the Messenger, and commitment to the Holy Qur’an.
Defending Sanctities and Confronting the Zionist Enemy
In his keynote address, Muftah stressed the collective responsibility of Muslims to defend Islamic sanctities and reaffirmed Yemen’s continued course in confronting the Israeli enemy.
He emphasized that Rajab Friday is not only a Yemeni occasion but one that concerns the entire Muslim Ummah, particularly in the face of repeated Zionist insults against the Holy Qur’an.
Muftah stated that such acts of desecration would not have occurred had Muslims fulfilled their responsibilities, pointing to Yemen’s constant preparedness for “the next round in which the enemies will entangle themselves.”
He stressed that faith-based readiness, steadfastness, and patience are met with the promise of victory and preparedness for sacrifice, noting that threats issued by Zionist war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu and the deranged American leader Donald Trump only increase Yemenis’ faith, resolve, and confidence.
Scholars Stress Faith Identity and Responsibility Toward Palestine
Religious scholars participating in the events called for maximum benefit from this spiritual and educational station to strengthen faith identity across society and deepen attachment to Islam, the Prophet Muhammad, and the Holy Qur’an.
They stressed that this divine path remains open to Yemenis until the Day of Judgment and that the prophetic saying “Faith is Yemeni and wisdom is Yemeni” places a heightened responsibility on Yemen toward the major causes of the Ummah—foremost among them Palestine.
Poetry Inspired by Al-Aqsa Flood and Qur’anic Defense
The events also featured powerful poetic contributions, most notably by renowned poet Hamza Al-Maghribi. His poems captured the essence of Yemen’s faith identity and the current condition of the Ummah, drawing inspiration from Rajab Friday, Yemen’s stance in support of Palestine, and the defense of the Holy Qur’an.
Al-Maghribi referenced the eruption of Al-Aqsa Flood, Yemen’s supportive position, and the defeat of the United States in the maritime confrontation. He condemned the silence of the Muslim world over the desecration of the Qur’an, criticizing widespread complacency and calling on Muslims to take an honorable stand rather than justify inaction.
A Continuous Yemeni Faith Identity
Rajab Friday in Yemen commemorates the arrival of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) to Yemen carrying the message of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), when Yemenis embraced Islam voluntarily and consciously.
This historic event gives Rajab Friday its exclusive significance for Yemenis and renews their sense of faith-based responsibility and readiness to support truth and justice—just as their ancestors supported the Islamic message at its dawn.
Today, Yemenis view their adherence to the Qur’anic leadership of Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi as a clear continuation of that same path initiated by Imam Ali.
The Rajab Friday events in Sana’a and across free provinces stood as a unified declaration that Yemeni identity is inseparable from a firm stance on the causes of the Ummah, foremost among them Palestine and the defense of the Holy Qur’an.
At all levels, Yemenis renewed their pledge of sacrifice and steadfastness, affirming that they stand today at the forefront of confronting global arrogance and Zionist aggression—guided by faith, wisdom, and an unbroken legacy of resistance. (PW)
