Qatar Urges US Diplomacy With Iran, Demands Israeli Withdrawal From Gaza
Doha warns against regional escalation, backs peaceful resolution of Iran nuclear issue, and calls on Israeli occupation to implement ceasefire terms
Palestine | PUREWILAYAH.COM - Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated that Doha has advised the United States to resolve tensions with Iran through diplomacy, stressing that confrontation would only deepen regional instability.
Speaking during a session at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Al Thani said Qatar supports a peaceful resolution to the Iranian nuclear issue and has urged Washington to abandon escalation in favor of dialogue.
“The region is going through a lot of tension,” Al Thani said. “We do not want to see an escalation, and we have advised Washington to pursue a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.”
His remarks reflect growing regional concern over repeated US threats against Iran, which have fueled instability across West Asia without producing political outcomes.
Qatar Demands Israeli Withdrawal to Enforce Gaza Ceasefire
During the same session, Al Thani called on the Israeli occupation to withdraw from the Gaza Strip in order to fully implement the terms of the ceasefire agreement that entered into force on October 10.
According to the Gaza Government Media Office, Israeli occupation forces have committed systematic and continuous violations of the ceasefire for 100 consecutive days, effectively undermining the agreement.
The office stated that Israeli actions constitute a clear breach of international humanitarian law and the humanitarian protocol attached to the ceasefire. Government bodies documented 1,300 violations since the truce began, including:
430 incidents of gunfire
66 military vehicle incursions into residential neighborhoods
604 cases of shelling and direct targeting
200 demolitions of homes and other structures
The violations underscore Israel’s refusal to honor ceasefire commitments while continuing collective punishment against Gaza’s population.
Israeli Media Mock Trump’s Retreat From Military Action Against Iran
As Washington issued direct threats against Iran, Israeli media outlets sharply criticized the Trump administration for retreating from planned military aggression.
Israeli Army Radio reported that Pentagon officials feared the United States lacked sufficient military capability in West Asia to counter a potential Iranian response. The Israeli news website Zman described President Donald Trump’s dilemma as “far from simple,” noting that initial assumptions of a decisive strike collapsed under warnings of a full-scale confrontation.
Israeli commentators invoked the term TACO — “Trump Always Chickens Out”, a phrase coined on Wall Street, to describe Trump’s pattern of issuing aggressive threats only to retreat under pressure. Israeli media framed the delay in military action as another example of strategic miscalculation and geopolitical misreading by Washington.
The coverage highlighted growing frustration within Israeli political and military circles over Washington’s inability to translate threats against Iran into action, despite repeated escalatory rhetoric. (PW)
