Qalibaf: US and EU3 Snapback Failure Marks the Rise of a New Global Order
Iran’s parliament speaker hails defeat of Western attempt to revive UN sanctions, calls it a symbol of the world moving beyond unilateral domination
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf declared that the recent failure by the United States and the European trio (the UK, France, and Germany) to trigger the snapback mechanism against Iran reflects a historic transformation in the balance of global power — one no longer dictated by unilateral Western decisions.
A New Axis of Global Cooperation
Speaking at a conference on provincial diplomacy in the city of Mashhad, Qalibaf underscored that Iran’s deep civilizational roots and strategic position place it at the center of emerging multilateral cooperation, particularly alongside China and Russia.
“Iran, together with its strategic partners China and Russia, can form the axis of regional and global cooperation — cooperation that finds meaning in confronting unilateralism and hegemonic structures,” Qalibaf said.
He noted that this new dynamic is evident in the economic sphere as well, pointing to Washington’s tariff policies and discriminatory trade practices that seek to impose U.S. dominance on global markets.
Failure of Western Pressure and the Rise of Multipolarism
Qalibaf highlighted the collapse of Washington and the European trio’s illegal push to reimpose UN sanctions on Tehran through the JCPOA’s snapback mechanism, emphasizing that it marks a decisive shift toward a multipolar world.
“The failure of the US and the three European countries to illegally activate the snapback mechanism — and the open opposition of two permanent members of the UN Security Council, Russia and China — is a sign of a new world,” Qalibaf stated. “A world whose decisions are no longer written in a single capital.”
Unified Resistance to Unilateralism
The remarks came as Tehran, Moscow, and Beijing issued a joint declaration rejecting the European troika’s move, affirming their unified stance against Western unilateralism.
In a coordinated statement and a joint letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council president, the three nations reiterated that all provisions related to UN Security Council Resolution 2231 expired on October 18, 2025.
They stressed that the UK, France, and Germany — having long failed to fulfill their obligations under the JCPOA and Resolution 2231 — have no legal authority to invoke its mechanisms.
End of Western Monopoly Over Global Decisions
The declaration by Iran, China, and Russia was widely seen as a clear message that the post-Western global order is solidifying.
It also signaled the formal end of the UN Security Council’s involvement in the Iranian nuclear issue — a domain long used by the West to exert political pressure.
Qalibaf’s remarks, aligning with this tripartite declaration, reflect Iran’s growing confidence as part of a broader front of resistance to unilateralism and coercion, as nations across West Asia and Eurasia assert their independence from Western domination. (PW)
