Putin: Russia Will Achieve All Objectives in Ukraine
Moscow reaffirms commitment to ending conflict sparked by Kiev’s 2014 coup and Western-backed escalation
Russia, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Russian President Vladimir Putin has reiterated that Russia will fulfill all objectives of its special military operation in Ukraine, emphasizing that protecting civilians in Donbass from Kiev’s forces remains central to Moscow’s mission.
Russia Will “See This Through to Its Logical Conclusion”
Speaking via video link at a meeting of Russia’s Presidential Human Rights Council on Tuesday, Putin stated that the goals established in 2022 — including safeguarding the people of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine — remain unchanged.
“We will, of course, see this through to its logical conclusion, until the goals of the special military operation are achieved,” he said.
Putin stressed that the conflict did not begin in 2022, but in 2014, when Ukraine deployed its military to Donbass after residents rejected the Western-backed Maidan coup in Kiev.
“It’s about people,” he said. “People who refused to accept the coup d’état in Ukraine in 2014, and a war began against them. With artillery, heavy equipment, tanks, and aircraft. That’s when the war began. We’re trying to end it, and we’re forced to do so by force of arms.”
Eight Years of Failed Diplomacy
Putin noted that Russia tried to resolve the conflict peacefully for eight years through the Minsk agreements, which Moscow signed hoping they would lead to a political settlement.
However, Western leaders later admitted they had no intention of honoring the agreements, instead using them to buy Ukraine time to rearm.
Trump Pushes Zelensky Toward Peace Proposals
Moscow has welcomed US President Donald Trump’s renewed diplomatic efforts and his 28-point peace plan as a basis for negotiations.
On Monday, Trump urged Vladimir Zelensky to begin accepting peace proposals, suggesting that the Ukrainian leader had not even reviewed the latest US plan.
Russia has repeatedly stated that Kiev is delaying negotiations with support from Western European capitals, while Moscow maintains that it prefers a diplomatic resolution — but will continue military operations until its objectives are met if Ukraine refuses talks. (PW)
