Putin Ready for Dialogue With Macron if Political Will Exists — Kremlin
Moscow Welcomes Paris’ Readiness for Talks as Diplomatic Channels Remain Open
Russia, PUREWILAYAH.COM — The Kremlin has confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to engage in dialogue with French President Emmanuel Macron, provided there is genuine and mutual political will from both sides.
Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told Sputnik that Moscow views Macron’s stated readiness to resume dialogue positively, stressing that meaningful talks depend on reciprocal intent rather than political posturing.
“He [Macron] said he was ready to talk with Putin. If there is mutual political will, this can only be assessed positively,” Peskov said.
Kremlin: Dialogue Possible if Mutual Will Is Genuine
Speaking separately to RIA Novosti on Friday, Peskov reiterated that President Putin remains open to dialogue with Macron, noting that both leaders have recently expressed interest in renewed communication.
Peskov said Macron publicly indicated his readiness for talks, while Putin also voiced hope for dialogue with the French president during a direct line with the public earlier on Friday. If there is real political will on both sides, Peskov said, Macron’s position should be viewed as a positive signal.
Macron Signals Shift After EU Summit
Macron stated on Friday, following the European Union summit in Brussels, that the EU must be prepared to open dialogue with Russia if current Western-backed efforts fail to produce what he described as lasting peace in Ukraine.
The French president acknowledged that, under such circumstances, negotiations with President Putin would be necessary and potentially useful, adding that the EU should establish a unified framework for such talks in advance.
This position reflects growing cracks within the Western camp, as European leaders face the failure of militarization, sanctions, and U.S.-driven confrontation to impose outcomes on Russia.
Previous Contacts and Broader Context
The leaders of Russia and France last spoke by phone on July 1, with discussions focusing on possible political solutions for the situation in Ukraine as well as developments in West Asia.
Moscow has consistently emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy—free from U.S. pressure, Israeli aggression, and coercive Western dictates—remain the only viable path toward genuine stability, whether in Ukraine or across the wider region, including West Asia and Yemen.
Russia’s position stands in contrast to Washington’s strategy of escalation and proxy warfare, which has fueled instability from Eastern Europe to Gaza, while shielding Israeli crimes and obstructing real political solutions. (PW)
