Putin: Global Situation Deteriorating as “Might Makes Right” Replaces International Law
Russian president condemns “might makes right” doctrine, warns of rising conflicts and chaos driven by U.S.-led unilateral actions
Russia | PUREWILAYAH.COM - Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that the global situation is steadily deteriorating, with old conflicts intensifying and new flashpoints emerging, as international dialogue is increasingly replaced by reckless unilateral actions and the doctrine of “might makes right.”
Putin made the remarks on Thursday during a formal ceremony in Moscow for the presentation of credentials by newly appointed ambassadors from more than 30 countries, including several states designated by Russia as “unfriendly.”
Global Stability Undermined by Unilateral Actions
Addressing the gathering, President Putin stressed that international cooperation remains a fundamental pillar for sustainable development and global prosperity. He warned, however, that diplomacy and consensus-building are being sidelined in favor of dangerous unilateral behavior.
“Peace does not come by itself. It is built every day,” Putin said. “Peace requires effort, responsibility, and a conscious choice. This is especially evident today, when the international situation is increasingly deteriorating—old conflicts are intensifying, and new serious flashpoints are emerging.”
He noted that many states are now facing coercion from powers that reject dialogue and instead impose their will through force.
‘Might Makes Right’ Brings Chaos and Lawlessness
Putin stated that dozens of countries around the world are suffering from violations of their sovereign rights, driven by chaos and lawlessness imposed by dominant powers.
“In the modern world, diplomacy and the search for consensus are being replaced by unilateral, and quite dangerous, actions,” he said, adding that many nations lack the strength and resources to resist such pressure.
The Russian leader’s remarks come amid growing international criticism of U.S. and allied policies, including military interventions, sanctions regimes, and coercive political pressure that have destabilized entire regions.
Ukraine Crisis Linked to NATO Expansion and Ignored Security Guarantees
Putin cited the Ukraine conflict as a clear example of the collapse of the principle of indivisible security, which holds that the security of one state cannot be achieved at the expense of others.
He said the crisis was a direct result of years of ignoring Russia’s legitimate security interests and a deliberate strategy of advancing NATO toward Russia’s borders, in violation of assurances previously given to Moscow.
“This was clearly demonstrated by the crisis around Ukraine, which resulted from a long-term course of threatening our security,” Putin stated, while reaffirming Russia’s commitment to achieving a lasting and sustainable peace.
Concluding his remarks, the Russian president called on the international community to adhere strictly to international law and to support the emergence of a more just, multipolar world order—one based on sovereignty, equality, and genuine security for all nations. (PW)
