After Truth is Clarified—The Real Test is Loyalty
🖋️ Full majlis article:
In the final installment of the Tabyeen series, Sheikh Shabbir Hassanally shifted the focus from recognizing the truth to staying loyal to it. Once the truth is clear, he said, the real challenge begins—not in understanding it, but in maintaining allegiance through fear, fatigue, and social pressure. Many people fail not before clarity, but after it.
He outlined common reasons why people abandon loyalty to truth:
▪️ Love of comfort (hubb al-dunya) softens convictions
▪️ Fear of loss, harm, or isolation discourages action
▪️ Spiritual fatigue weakens long-term commitment
▪️ Social pressure deters people from standing firm
These forces, Sheikh Shabbir explained, are not accidental. They are forms of fitnah—divinely ordained trials that test loyalty and reveal who truly walks the path of truth. Quoting the Qur’an and Imam Ali (as), he stressed that true victory lies in remaining loyal despite hardship, not simply in claiming belief.
He warned of the danger of quiet betrayal—a slow and subtle “sale” of truth in exchange for ease, approval, or safety. This erosion of loyalty rarely happens in a single act; it happens in increments, unnoticed until one finds themselves far from the original commitment.
The lecture closed with a powerful supplication invoking the loyalty of Imam Husayn and Lady Zaynab, whose unwavering stand in Karbala embodied what it means to live and die for truth. Sheikh Shabbir announced that the Tabyeen series will resume in Arbaeen 2025, exploring how different segments of society—scholars, youth, women, and activists—must now take up the sacred duty of carrying this loyalty forward.
Maqtal: The Final Moments of Imam Husayn (AS)
🖋️ Full maqtal article:
The night’s Maqtal narrated the final stand of Imam Husayn (as) on the battlefield of Karbala, bereft of all companions, carrying the burden of a divine mission and the grief of immense loss.
His farewell to Imam Sajjad (as) and Sayyeda Zaynab (sa) captured the sorrow of separation and the transfer of sacred responsibility. Facing the enemy army, Imam Husayn made a final appeal for justice, only to be met with continued enmity.
His martyrdom was brutal and symbolic—trampled, beheaded, and left unburied—while the cries of Zaynab and Sakina echoed the sorrow of Ahlul Bayt and signaled the beginning of captivity for the Prophet’s family.
Noha: “Husayni Mawlaya” – Lamentation with Devotion
🖋️ Full noha link:
The lamentation “Husayni Mawlaya” brought the congregation into deep emotional resonance, expressing both the anguish and admiration for Imam Husayn’s sacrifice. The poetic rendition invoked loyalty, pain, and a spiritual longing for Karbala, reminding listeners of the eternal relevance of the tragedy—not just as history, but as an ongoing moral compass.
Ziyarah Ashura: A Communion of Loyalty and Resistance
🖋️ Full ziyarah article:
“The Communion of Ashura” closed the night with a fierce declaration of allegiance. This rendition of Ziyarah Ashura is not only devotional but activist—linking the tragedy of Karbala with modern-day oppression.
Explicitly naming global centers of injustice, the performance moved beyond mourning, urging believers to channel their grief into resistance against tyranny, in the spirit of Husayn (as).
