Pope Leo XIV Delivers Crushing Response to Trump’s Insults
Pontiff declares Christ stands with the humble—not the arrogant—as Trump escalates attacks and faces growing backlash
Vatican, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Pope Leo XIV has issued a firm and uncompromising response to insults by U.S. President Donald Trump, declaring that the heart of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) stands with the humble—not with the wicked, the arrogant, or the proud.
The Pope—who had earlier stated that he has no fear of the Trump administration following an unusual verbal attack—reaffirmed his position in a message published on social media.
“War, violence, injustice, and lies are not pleasing to God,” the Pope wrote.
“The heart of the Prophet of the Christians is not with the wicked, the arrogant, or the proud, but with the humble and the meek.”
Trump Escalates Despite Backlash
Trump’s offensive remarks against Pope Leo XIV have triggered widespread reactions across the Christian world, including among religious segments of his own supporters.
Despite the backlash, Trump refused to retreat. On Tuesday, he continued his criticism, stating:
“He doesn’t understand and should not speak about war, because he has no idea what is happening.”
The comments follow an earlier message in which Trump urged the Pope to “get his act together,” accusing him of acting like a politician rather than a religious leader.
Religious Support Grows Beyond the Christian World
Support for the Pope’s stance has extended beyond Christian communities, drawing notable reactions from prominent Islamic figures.
Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, a senior Iranian cleric and head of the country’s national seminary network praised Pope Leo XIV in an official letter, describing his position as faithful to the true mission of Christianity.
“You remained faithful to the true mission of Christianity, because Jesus Christ was a messenger of peace, mercy, and defense of the oppressed. What you express today is a continuation of that very mission,” he wrote.
He added that the Pope’s stance demonstrated that the Vatican can serve as “a platform for the cry for justice, not an altar of silence in the face of oppression.”
Arafi further emphasized that, at a time when many attempt to marginalize religion from public moral life, the Pope’s defense of innocent people proves that religious conscience can still serve as one of the strongest moral voices in the world.
He concluded by calling for the continuation of such positions and prayed that the voice of justice would ultimately prevail “over the clamor of bombs and devils.”
Moral Authority vs Political Power
The Pope’s remarks come amid his broader calls in recent days for peace and rejection of war and injustice, positions that have drawn attention across religious communities.
His stance has been widely noted in various parts of the world, including among Muslim communities, where it is seen as consistent with the teachings of the prophets and a moral rejection of oppression and aggression.
The exchange between Trump and Pope Leo XIV reflects more than a personal dispute—it highlights a widening gap between political rhetoric and moral positioning.
For many observers, the Pope’s words reinforce a clear ethical stance rooted in humility and justice, while the continued attacks against him underscore the growing tension between power and principle. (PW)
