Pezeshkian Meets Imam Khamenei Before Departing for UN General Assembly
President Pezeshkian presented a report on his plans and strategies for the trip, while Ayatollah Khamenei offered guidance and expressed his well wishes.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, in Tehran on Monday ahead of his departure for New York to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting addressed preparations for the president’s participation in the global gathering.
According to Tasnim, President Pezeshkian presented a report on his plans and strategies for the trip, while Ayatollah Khamenei offered guidance and expressed his well wishes.
Departure and Statement at Mehrabad Airport
Shortly before leaving Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport for New York, Pezeshkian delivered remarks outlining the objectives of his trip.
He emphasized that the journey provides an important opportunity to present Iran’s positions and perspectives to the international community under this year’s UNGA theme: “Better Together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights.”
The president criticized unilateralism and authoritarianism practiced by powerful states, accusing them of using their influence and tools to destroy human lives.
“We see children in Gaza dying of hunger, while every day Israel bombs the region, equipped and supported by so-called civilized nations that claim to defend human rights,” he said.
Message of Justice and Humanity
Pezeshkian stressed that all human beings, regardless of race or ethnicity, have the right to life and must not be deprived of their rights.
He noted that Iran’s stance is based on justice, peace, and humanity, and he hopes to make these principles clear during his engagements in New York.
He further underlined that security is not the right of Israel alone, but of all nations. “We must strive for convergence within the framework of rights, justice, and the territorial integrity of states,” he added.
Planned Agenda in New York
During his stay in New York, Pezeshkian is scheduled to:
Deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday afternoon (Tehran time).
Hold meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, heads of states, and government leaders.
Meet with Iranian expatriates and experts residing abroad.
The president said that while dialogue is essential, but it is impossible to engage with those who pursue coercion and domination.
“If we seek truth and honesty, there will be no conflict. There may be misunderstandings between one another that should be resolved through dialogue. But with those who pursue coercion and tyranny, it is impossible to engage in conversation,” he stated. (PW)
