Oxfam Warns of Worsening Famine Crisis in Gaza
Aid group says starvation is spreading across the Strip, with over 100 confirmed deaths due to hunger and malnutrition
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The humanitarian organization Oxfam has issued a stark warning over the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, stating that famine is already widespread and has resulted in the deaths of numerous civilians due to starvation.
In a public statement, Oxfam reiterated its ongoing alarm over the escalating humanitarian disaster in Gaza, emphasizing that the lack of adequate response to repeated distress calls has left aid workers increasingly hopeless.
Severe Malnutrition and Water Contamination
Oxfam confirmed that the residents of Gaza are facing acute crises, primarily malnutrition and water contamination.
These conditions have worsened the suffering of the civilian population, which the organization described as living under "catastrophic and unprecedented" circumstances.
Blockade Exacerbates the Crisis
The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza has intensified to an unprecedented degree, as all border crossings have remained closed for over 140 days.
This is despite a previously agreed-upon ceasefire and prisoner exchange, which the occupying forces have failed to uphold.
Earlier today, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that hospitals in the Strip recorded 10 new deaths caused by famine and malnutrition over the past 24 hours.
This brings the total number of confirmed deaths from starvation and related complications to 111. (PW)
