Over 60 U.S. Warplanes Deployed in Jordan Amid Escalating Threats Against Iran
Satellite imagery reveals a sharp surge in U.S. combat aircraft in Jordan, reflecting Washington’s escalating military pressure against Iran.
Jordan | PUREWILAYAH.COM - The number of U.S. warplanes deployed in Jordan has risen significantly, according to satellite imagery and flight-tracking data cited by The New York Times, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.
Images captured on Friday show more than 60 U.S. attack aircraft stationed at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, nearly three times the usual number typically deployed at the facility.
Flight-tracking data further indicate that at least 68 U.S. transport aircraft have landed at the base since February 15. Additional fighter jets are believed to be housed in hardened aircraft shelters, pointing to a broader and sustained expansion of the U.S. military presence.
Satellite imagery also confirms the presence of F-35 stealth fighter jets, aircraft considered more advanced than those normally stationed at the base. The buildup reportedly includes drones, helicopters, and newly deployed air-defense systems.
The scale and composition of the deployment suggest heightened operational readiness, occurring amid wider U.S. military buildups across the region as Washington continues to escalate military pressure and threats against Iran.
Jordan Cites Defense Agreement With Washington
Jordanian officials have claimed that the U.S. aircraft and military equipment stationed at the base are deployed under an existing defense agreement between Washington and Amman.
While Muwaffaq Salti Air Base has long served as a hub for joint military coordination, the current concentration of advanced combat aircraft underscores its role as a forward U.S. military platform within broader regional security arrangements.
Rising Tensions Between Iran and the U.S.
Tensions between Iran and the United States have intensified further following reports that U.S. officials discussed assassination plans targeting Iran’s Leader, Ayatullah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and his son, Mojtaba.
According to Axios, citing an unnamed adviser to President Donald Trump, contingency plans aimed at Iran’s leadership were presented to Trump several weeks ago.
If confirmed, the report would mark a serious escalation in Washington’s aggressive posture toward Iran, raising concerns over the normalization of assassination as a tool of state policy.
Military Pressure and Narrative Escalation
The air buildup in Jordan coincides with reports of additional U.S. naval and air deployments across the region, alongside increasingly confrontational rhetoric directed at Tehran.
At the same time, U.S.-backed unrest and the amplification of disputed casualty narratives are being used to shape public perception, forming part of a broader effort to manufacture momentum for confrontation with Iran—despite notable opposition within segments of the U.S. public and political establishment to another war that could escalate into a wider regional conflict.
