North Korea: U.S. and South Korea Preparing to “Actualize” Nuclear War
At global parliamentary summit, Pak In-chol defends DPRK’s nuclear program as vital self-defense, denounces U.S. hegemony
North Korea, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Pak In-chol, Chairman of North Korea’s Supreme People’s Assembly, on Wednesday accused the United States and South Korea of advancing plans to “actualize” a nuclear war, asserting that Pyongyang’s nuclear development is a self-defense measure essential for national security.
Speaking at the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Switzerland, Pak declared:
“The advanced preparations of the United States and the ROK to actualize a nuclear war have entered the gravity stage.”
“This impels the DPRK to take every necessary measure in response to such geopolitical crisis. Possessing capabilities to cope proactively with various security threats ... is an issue of vital importance of our state for defending its sovereignty, security threats and territorial integrity.”
The ROK refers to the Republic of Korea (South Korea), and DPRK refers to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea).
DPRK Condemns U.S. and Western Influence
Pak blamed the United States and other Western countries for creating “instability and chaos” in order to maintain their “hegemonic position.”
He added that the DPRK will not tolerate the “high-handedness” and “arbitrariness of the U.S. and its following forces,” and will “fully discharge its responsibility” to defend international justice.
North Korea Highlights Development Agenda
Pak claimed that North Korea is implementing a development road map aimed at the “prosperity and happiness” of its people, including long-term construction plans and improvements in education, health care, and science.
“Our people are achieving miraculous successes in their struggle for overall development,” he said.
No Encounter Between North and South Korean Speakers
South Korean National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik also attended the meeting and delivered a speech, calling for communication channels between the two Koreas to remain open despite tense inter-Korean relations.
