New Details of Iran–U.S. Draft Memorandum of Understanding Released
Details of a reported 14-point Iran–U.S. draft include sanctions relief, frozen asset releases, Hormuz arrangements, and renewed nuclear talks.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - New details have emerged regarding a 14-point draft memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States.
According to Mehr News Agency, a source close to the Iranian negotiating team has released new details of the 14-point draft agreement between Iran and the United States. The details are as follows:
An immediate and permanent cessation of war on all fronts, including Lebanon.
A U.S. commitment not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs and to respect the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The complete lifting of the maritime blockade within 30 days.
A U.S. commitment to withdraw its forces from areas surrounding Iran.
The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days under arrangements determined by Iran.
The suspension of sanctions on the sale of oil, petrochemical products, and derivatives, along with full Iranian access to the resulting financial revenues.
The United States and its allies must present reconstruction plans for Iran worth at least 300 billion dollars.
A 60-day negotiation period to reach a final agreement based on nuclear-related issues and the complete removal of U.S. primary and secondary sanctions, as well as United Nations Security Council resolutions and International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors resolutions.
Iran’s reaffirmation of its commitment under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) not to produce nuclear weapons.
During the negotiation period, the United States commits not to increase its military forces in the region and not to impose any new sanctions.
The release of 24 billion dollars in Iranian frozen assets during the 60-day final negotiation period. Half of this amount must be made available to Iran before negotiations begin.
The establishment of a monitoring mechanism to ensure implementation of the agreement.
The final agreement will be endorsed through a United Nations Security Council resolution.
Final negotiations will not begin until half of Iran’s frozen assets have been released, sanctions on Iranian oil have been suspended, and the maritime blockade has been lifted. The final agreement will focus exclusively on the fate of enriched materials and uranium enrichment, sanctions relief, and programs for the reconstruction of Iran’s economy. Discussions regarding Iran’s missile program and support for resistance groups have been definitively excluded from the agenda.
As previously stated by the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the text still requires review and final approval by the relevant authorities in Iran. (PW)
