Netanyahu Heading to US: I Will Discuss Gaza and Iran With Trump
Netanyahu departed for the United States on Monday, confirming he will meet with Donald Trump to discuss Gaza, regional developments, and negotiations with Iran
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed for the United States on Monday, confirming he will meet with Donald Trump to discuss Gaza, regional developments, and negotiations with Iran.
“The purpose of this visit is to discuss Gaza, the region, and first and foremost, the negotiations with Iran,” Netanyahu said ahead of his departure.
The visit comes as Israel’s military campaign in Gaza continues and amid heightened regional tensions involving Iran.
Gaza and Iran on the Agenda
Netanyahu said the talks would focus on what he described as the next phase of the Gaza plan, alongside broader regional issues, with Iran at the center of discussions.
“I will present to the President our perspectives regarding the principles of the negotiations,” Netanyahu stated. “These are principles that are important not only for Israel, but for anyone who seeks peace and security.”
Netanyahu described the trip as his seventh meeting with Trump during the latter’s second term, excluding Trump’s previous visit to Israel and his address to the Knesset.
“This reflects the exceptional closeness between Israel and the United States,” Netanyahu said, adding that the relationship is “unlike anything in our history.”
The visit takes place while Netanyahu remains wanted by the International Criminal Court over allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to Israel’s actions in Gaza.
The meeting in Washington is expected to take place later this week. (PW)
