Nadi al-Asir Warns of Escalating Crimes and Systematic Abuse Against Palestinian Prisoners
The organization confirmed that the escalating abuses against prisoners is part of a complete war of genocide, which is increasing in intensity inside the prisons
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Nadi al-Asir (the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club) has placed full and direct responsibility on the Israeli occupation for the fate of imprisoned Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouthi and for the lives of all detainees.
The organization confirmed that the escalating abuses against prisoners is part of a complete war of genocide, which is increasing in intensity inside the prisons, paralleling the widespread crimes committed by the Israeli apparatus of brutality against the Palestinian people.
Grave Concerns After New Intimidation Targeting Barghouthi’s Family
In a statement released Friday, Nadi al-Asir expressed deep and growing fears over the fate of Marwan Barghouthi, following a new act of intimidation targeting his family.
This incident, the organization said, represents a continuation of the occupation’s organized terrorism aimed at prisoners’ families, with the intention of breaking their spirit and subjecting them to psychological pressure.
According to the statement, Barghouthi’s family received a phone call from an individual claiming to be a released prisoner, who relayed terrifying accounts of what the leader is allegedly facing inside Israeli prisons.
Nadi al-Asir stressed that this incident is an inseparable part of Israel’s systematic policy of terror against prisoners and their families—actions that amount to organized crimes.
A Renewed Warning: Systematic Violence and Attempts to Liquidate Prison Leaders
The organization reaffirmed that the direct threats facing Barghouthi, along with the brutal and systematic assaults on him and other prominent leaders of the prisoners’ movement, are part of an ongoing policy of slow and deliberate killing.
Thousands of detainees in Israeli prisons and camps face around-the-clock acts of slow execution through torture, starvation, solitary confinement, sexual assaults, and denial of medical care.
Escalating Isolation and Violence Against Prison Leaders
Nadi al-Asir noted that the prison system continues to isolate several leaders of the prisoners’ movement under harsh and oppressive conditions, while carrying out ongoing campaigns of abuse, repression, and assaults.
At the forefront of those targeted is Marwan Barghouthi, who was recently subjected to a direct and public threat issued by extremist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir in a recorded video—an incitement that openly seeks physical liquidation and aims to legitimize killing prisoners through the so-called “Prisoners’ Execution Law.”
Call for Immediate International Intervention
The organization stressed that the continuation of these crimes and atrocities against prisoners without accountability is a disgrace to the international community, which continues to provide political cover for Israel’s policies of killing and extermination.
Nadi al-Asir called for urgent and genuine international intervention to protect prisoners’ lives and to hold Israeli leaders accountable for their crimes. (PW)
