Moscow Sounds Alarm Over Israeli Funding of Anti-Hamas Groups
Reports of Israel sponsoring Palestinian groups to fight Hamas are deeply troubling. Such actions can have extremely dangerous consequences,” Nebenzia warned
Russia, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Russia has voiced sharp alarm over emerging reports that the Israeli occupation is funding Palestinian groups to weaken Hamas, warning that such actions could ignite further instability and deepen the crisis in Gaza.
Speaking at a UN Security Council session on the Middle East, Russia’s UN Permanent Representative, Vassily Nebenzia, said the reports point to a reckless and destabilizing strategy by Tel Aviv.
“Reports of Israel sponsoring Palestinian groups to fight Hamas are deeply troubling. Such actions can have extremely dangerous consequences,” Nebenzia warned.
He added that the alleged Israeli interference risks fueling internal Palestinian divisions at a time when unity is essential in confronting occupation policies and ceasefire violations.
Russia Denounces Ben-Gvir’s Incitement Against Palestinians
Nebenzia also condemned the latest remarks by Israeli Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who claimed that the Palestinian people “do not exist” and encouraged the killing of senior Palestinian Authority officials.
“His incitement to kill Palestinian leaders does not—even mildly speaking—contribute to any sustainable peace process,” the Russian envoy said.
Moscow stressed that Israeli political rhetoric has reached increasingly dangerous levels, emboldening violence and sabotaging any prospects for political resolution.
Russia: Any International Force in Gaza Must Cooperate with Palestinians
Discussing the newly established International Stabilization Force (ISF), Nebenzia emphasized that no foreign deployment in Gaza will succeed without coordination with the Palestinian side.
He reiterated Russia’s position that stabilization efforts cannot be dictated solely by Washington and Tel Aviv.
UN Approves Washington-Backed Gaza Force Amid Israeli Violations
Last week, the UN Security Council passed a US-sponsored resolution deploying an ISF in the Gaza Strip for an initial two-year mandate. Thirteen members supported the resolution, while Russia and China abstained. US President Donald Trump later thanked both nations for not exercising their veto.
The ISF mission includes:
securing Gaza’s borders,
civilian protection,
facilitating humanitarian aid,
retraining a restructured Palestinian police force,
overseeing the disarmament of Hamas and other resistance factions.
However, the ceasefire—officially in effect since October 10—has been repeatedly violated by the Israeli occupation.
Israel Has Committed Over 280 Ceasefire Violations
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the Israeli occupation has committed:
280+ ceasefire violations,
312 Palestinians killed,
760 injured
since the ceasefire began — underscoring that Israel continues to wage war under the banner of alleged “security concerns.”
Russia warned that any attempts to manipulate Palestinian internal dynamics or sabotage resistance structures risk igniting a wider explosion in the region. (PW)
