Mohsen Rezaei: The Leader's Message Must Become the Framework of the Negotiations
The former IRGC commander says Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei’s message should serve as the framework for diplomacy and warns negotiators against trusting US intentions.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM – Major General Mohsen Rezaei said Iran’s negotiating team and diplomatic apparatus must treat the recent message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei, as the guiding framework for ongoing negotiations, stressing that the achievements secured during the Ramadan War must be preserved and translated into political gains.
Speaking on Iranian state television, Rezaei said the Leader’s message was concise but comprehensive, containing guidance for both state institutions and the negotiating team.
He described the recent conflict as one of the most significant political and military challenges faced by the Islamic Republic and praised Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei’s leadership during the crisis.
Leader’s Message Must Guide Negotiations
Rezaei said one of the central themes of the Leader’s message was the need to resist American demands and avoid being influenced by what he described as deceptive gestures from the opposing side.
According to him, Washington entered negotiations out of necessity rather than strength, making it essential for Iranian officials to approach the talks with vigilance.
“The Leader’s message must become the framework of the negotiations,” Rezaei said.
He added that negotiators should remain accountable to the public and provide transparency regarding the details of the negotiating process, noting that the Iranian people have a right to know whether the conditions outlined by Iran are being achieved.
Resistance Front and Regional Security
Rezaei also highlighted the Leader’s emphasis on supporting allies and the Resistance Front, describing it as support for the broader security of the region.
He argued that without the Resistance Front, several countries in West Asia would have faced direct aggression from the Zionist regime.
According to Rezaei, the rights and interests of the Resistance Front must remain part of any final outcome, describing Iran and the Resistance Front as partners in a shared defense effort.
Warning Against American Intentions
The former IRGC commander said Iran should remain cautious regarding American commitments, arguing that Washington has repeatedly demonstrated a pattern of violating agreements.
He suggested that the current negotiation process could be used by the United States to gain time while pursuing broader political objectives.
Rezaei said Iran should use the same period to strengthen its own capabilities and avoid becoming trapped in a prolonged negotiating process that produces no tangible results.
“Iran Won the War”
Rezaei argued that Iran emerged from the Ramadan War having achieved its principal objectives while the United States and Israel failed to accomplish theirs.
He pointed to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, pressure on American military forces, and economic disruptions affecting global markets as factors that increased pressure on Washington during the conflict.
According to Rezaei, the war demonstrated the limits of American military power, damaged key US military infrastructure in the region, and enhanced Iran’s deterrence capabilities.
He also said the conflict increased Iran’s standing internationally and strengthened regional awareness that security cannot be guaranteed through foreign military presence.
Gains Must Not Be Lost at the Negotiating Table
Rezaei warned negotiators against allowing Iran’s battlefield achievements to be diluted through delays or concessions during the diplomatic process.
He said negotiations should either expand Iran’s gains or secure those already achieved.
“We must not enter their game of wasting time and eroding our victories,” he said.
Rezaei added that compensation for damages inflicted on Iran and the protection of Iran’s national rights must remain central objectives in any future agreement, alongside safeguarding the interests of the Resistance Front.
Rezaei warned that the United States could still attempt to exert pressure through military means or through the Zionist regime, while affirming that Iran's armed forces remain prepared to respond to any new act of aggression. (PW)
