Millions Mark World’s Largest Mawlid in Sana'a and Across Yemen
Capital’s Al-Sabeen Square overflows as Yemen marks the Prophet’s birth; parallel mass rallies sweep Hodeidah, Dhamar, Ibb, Hajjah, Amran, Marib, and other provinces
Yemen, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Sana’a witnessed what organizers and observers alike described as the region’s—and the world’s—largest celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birth.
From the early hours, processions from every district of the capital and surrounding governorates streamed toward Al-Sabeen Square, overflowing the venue and spilling into adjoining streets for kilometers. The square became a vast spiritual tableau centered on the Prophet’s name, echoing the tradition “Faith is Yemeni, and wisdom is Yemeni.”
Crowds filled the air with prayers and devotional hymns—“Tala‘a al-badru ‘alayna,” “Marhaban ya nūr”—as choral groups performed classic Yemeni nasheed.
Poet Abdul-Salam Al-Mutamayiz recited “The Memory of Prophethood,” urging a return to the Prophet’s guidance and praising Yemen’s distinctive stance in defending the Ummah’s causes.

The gathering renewed pledges of loyalty to the Messenger, vowing to uphold his path in word and deed. Speakers tied the commemoration to present struggles, calling for unity across the Arab and Muslim worlds and reaffirming solidarity with Gaza and Palestine.
Across the Provinces: Nation-Wide Rallies at a Glance

Message and Momentum
Across Sana’a and the provinces, speakers framed the Mawlid as a living covenant: to embody the Prophet’s ethics, strengthen unity, and stand with the oppressed—foremost the people of Gaza.
Participants described the gatherings as both devotional and mobilizing—reaffirming Yemen’s identity of “faith and wisdom,” transforming commemoration into commitment, and signaling to the world that the Prophet’s light remains radiant in Yemen. (PW)
