Massive crowds march from Enghelab Square to Meraj al-Shohada, renewing allegiance to Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei and demanding retaliation against the United States and the Zionist regime.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM – An immense and historic crowd filled the streets of Iran’s capital on Wednesday as millions gathered to participate in the funeral procession for the martyrs of the Ramadan War, senior Iranian military leaders and civilians killed in the first day of attacks carried out by the United States and the Zionist regime.
The ceremony began at Enghelab Square in Tehran and continued toward Meraj al-Shohada, with waves of mourners joining the procession along the route.
Long before the official start of the ceremony, thousands had already filled the square. Tehran’s Enghelab metro station was packed with people arriving continuously, each train bringing more citizens determined to take part in the historic funeral.
Senior Iranian Commanders Among the Martyrs
The martyrs honored during the ceremony include several of the most senior figures of the Islamic Republic’s military leadership who were targeted in the first day of the war.
Among those whose bodies were carried in the procession were:
Martyr Major General Seyed Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces
Martyr Major General Mohammad Pakpour, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
Martyr Admiral Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the National Defense Council
Martyr Major General Aziz Nasirzadeh, Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics
Martyr Mohammad Shirazi, head of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief
As well as several other senior commanders and civilians who were martyred during the attacks, including families who lost multiple members.
Atmosphere of Resistance and Defiance
As the ceremony began, Tehran’s air defenses became active in response to aerial threats, prompting the crowd to erupt in chants of “Allahu Akbar” and “Death to America.”
The funeral opened with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the national anthem of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Participants then chanted revolutionary slogans against the aggressors.
Renowned eulogists of Ahl al-Bayt, including Haj Nariman Panahi, Haj Amir Abbasi, and Haj Mohammad-Hossein Puyanfar, recited elegies honoring the martyrs and invoking the epic culture of Ashura.
Night of Vigil, Day of Loyalty
Many participants had spent the entire night before the ceremony in prayer and supplication, marking a deeply spiritual 21st night of Ramadan.
Crowds shouted “Haydar, Haydar!” while expressing gratitude to Iran’s armed forces and demanding punishment for what they described as the crimes of the American and Zionist aggressors.
Salute to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution
During the ceremony, mourners collectively raised their hands in a military-style salute in honor of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei, renewing their loyalty to him.
As the procession moved from Enghelab Square toward Valiasr Junction, chants of “Allahu Akbar” echoed continuously through the streets.
Participants also renewed their pledge of allegiance to the third Leader of the Islamic Revolution, chanting:
“O free leader, we are ready!”
Teachers Honor Students Martyred in Minab
Teachers attending the ceremony also paid tribute to the students martyred in the bombing of a school in Minab.
One teacher present at the funeral said the attack had filled him with deep anger.
“After the explosion at the Minab school, I am so angry that it is difficult for me to speak,” he said. “But I will say this: my life has no value compared to my country. I will stand behind my leader.”
Officials: Enemy Miscalculated Iran
Speaking during the ceremony, Saeed Jalili, representative of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution in the Supreme National Security Council, stated that Iran’s enemies had once again miscalculated.
“For 47 years our enemies have suffered from strategic miscalculation,” he said. “For years our people fought against secondary elements of global arrogance, but now they confront them directly. This gives us hope of victory.”
Iran’s Justice Minister Amir-Hossein Rahimi also praised the unity displayed by the Iranian nation.
“The people are present day and night,” he said. “The solidarity between the nation and the state shows that victory lies ahead.”
Calls for Retribution Against Aggressors
As the funeral procession entered Hafez Street, participants demanded that Iran’s armed forces avenge the blood of the martyrs.
Crowds chanted slogans calling for retaliation against the United States and Israel, holding them responsible for the attacks that killed the commanders and civilians.
Nation Will Not Retreat Under Threats
Iran’s Minister of Science, Hossein Simaei, also addressed the gathering, stating that the massive turnout proved that threats would never drive the Iranian people from the field.
“The presence of the people at the funeral of the martyred commanders shows that no threat can force them to retreat,” he said.
“This nation has proven over decades that it can bring its enemies to their knees while never becoming exhausted.”
He added that the aggressors had once again tested the Iranian nation but had failed to achieve any of their objectives.
Final Farewell at Meraj al-Shohada
At the end of the procession, the bodies of the martyrs were transferred to Meraj al-Shohada on Behesht Street, where the final farewell ceremony was held.
The funeral marked one of the largest public mobilizations in recent years, reflecting the deep sense of mourning and defiance across Iran following the attacks that triggered the ongoing conflict. (PW)
