Massive Public Gatherings Across Iran Reaffirm Support for Lebanon
Thousands gathered across Iran during Ashura commemorations to reaffirm support for Lebanon as Tehran linked regional escalation to its closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Large public gatherings were held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, and several other provinces to commemorate the nights of Ashura, with thousands of participants filling squares and Hussainiyas to attend mourning ceremonies. The gatherings featured strong expressions of support for Iran’s leadership, the armed forces, and the Axis of Resistance, particularly the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, amid the continued Israeli attacks on the country.
The crowds raised slogans emphasizing unity and steadfastness, arguing that current developments require standing alongside Lebanon in the face of Israeli escalation. Participants stressed that Tehran has never abandoned its allies and has consistently supported those who stand by it.
Strait of Hormuz Closure Signals Support for Allies Amid Regional Escalation
The gatherings coincided with the decision by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy to close the Strait of Hormuz after Tehran reported repeated violations and a continued failure to uphold agreements related to de-escalation, as well as the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
Iranian sources stated that the decision to close the strait carries a clear message: the continued targeting of Lebanon and the disregard for international commitments will not go unanswered. They emphasized that protecting allies and honoring commitments toward them remain among Iran’s fundamental principles.
These developments come amid rising regional tensions and growing international concerns over the potential consequences of closing one of the world’s most important maritime corridors, particularly for global trade and energy supplies. (PW)
