“We cannot fail them; we can never fail them. This is not the first time we have faced a Christmas where we must share the struggle in the streets — the struggle in defense of our rights, the struggle in defense of democracy and peace — alongside celebrations on every corner.
Between celebration and celebration, and between battle and victory, we will continue through these Christmases, and no one will spoil them for the people of Venezuela,” the Venezuelan president stated.
Christmas Celebrated Amid Active Resistance and Defense of Sovereignty
The celebration of Christmas in Venezuela during 2025 is taking place within a context of active resistance and defense of national sovereignty. This duality between festivity and political struggle strengthens the nation’s libertarian identity as it advances toward social transformation and regional peace.
Government Denounces US Seizure of Venezuelan Oil Vessel
This context unfolds as the Venezuelan government denounced on Saturday, December 20, the theft and seizure of a private vessel carrying Venezuelan oil, after US military forces carried out the operation in international waters. The incident reportedly included the forced disappearance of the vessel’s crew.
Venezuela’s Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez described the military action as a grave act of piracy aimed at the illegal appropriation of Venezuelan crude oil and the country’s strategic reserves.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirmed that these criminal acts will not go unpunished, asserting that the Venezuelan state will pursue legal action before the United Nations Security Council and other international bodies.
Caracas emphasized that international law will prevail and that those responsible will be held accountable for their actions, while the nation maintains its commitment to independent economic growth through its fourteen development engines and its sovereign hydrocarbons industry. (PW)
