Lebanese Officials Denounce Israeli Assault on Musaylih as a Dangerous Escalation
The Attack Follows Gaza Ceasefire, Targets Civilian Infrastructure and Violates Lebanese Sovereignty
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Lebanese officials issued strong statements on Saturday morning following the latest Israeli assault targeting the Musaylih area in southern Lebanon, denouncing the attack as a flagrant violation of sovereignty and a deliberate escalation despite the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
Speaker Nabih Berri: “An Attack on All of Lebanon”
Commenting on the Israeli aggression that struck Musaylih at dawn, Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri affirmed that this blatant attack — in its form, substance, timing, and objectives — will not alter Lebanon’s steadfast principles, nor the convictions of its people who once again pay with their lives, homes, and livelihoods for their attachment to their land and their right to a dignified life.
Berri emphasized that the assault was not merely an attack on Musaylih or its industrial facilities, but rather an aggression against all of Lebanon and its people, where Christian and Muslim blood has been shed together — a renewed testament to the unity of destiny in confronting Israeli arrogance.
He concluded by declaring: “Let us unite — from Musaylih — for the sake of Lebanon, in the face of this continuous assault on our sovereignty and national dignity.”
President Joseph Aoun: “A Deliberate Strike After Gaza Ceasefire”
Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun also condemned the Israeli strike on the Musaylih road in the south, stressing that southern Lebanon has once again fallen under open Israeli fire against civilian installations, without justification or pretext.
In his statement, President Aoun warned of the grave implications of the attack’s timing, coming immediately after the Gaza ceasefire agreement, and following the Palestinian side’s approval of mechanisms intended to neutralize weapons and halt hostilities.
He noted that this development raises profound questions for Lebanon and the international community, particularly whether there are attempts to shift the battleground from Gaza to Lebanon, in order to secure continued political gain through fire and bloodshed.
Aoun concluded by affirming that repeated Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty constitute a gross breach of international law and endanger any prospects for stability that were expected to follow the Gaza agreement. He called for an urgent international response to halt this aggressive course.
The latest assault on Musaylih follows renewed Israeli attacks across southern Lebanon, underscoring the fragile nature of current ceasefire arrangements and the persistent threat to civilian areas and infrastructure.
Local communities remain under heightened risk as Israeli operations continue despite international calls for de-escalation. (PW)
