Lebanese Mufti Qabalan Warns Against Sectarian Sedition — Slams Zionist Media as Top Threat
Grand Jaafari Mufti calls for national unity, rejects sectarian offense, and warns against external agendas driving division in Lebanon
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Sheikh Ahmed Qabalan issued a strong statement warning against sectarian incitement and emphasizing that no disagreement justifies offense, as he identified Zionist-aligned media outlets as the most dangerous threat to Lebanon’s unity.
National Ethics Reject Offense, Unity Remains Essential
Sheikh Ahmed Qabalan stressed that Lebanon’s religious, national, and ethical heritage categorically rejects any form of insult, regardless of political or sectarian differences. He affirmed that the Christian community, like all other Lebanese communities, is a fundamental pillar and an essential partner in the country.
He noted that responsible criticism aimed at protecting Lebanon is legitimate, but warned against what he described as “paid criticism” designed to destabilize the country and fuel internal divisions.
Zionist Media Outlets Driving Division
Sheikh Ahmed Qabalan warned that Zionist-aligned media outlets are actively fueling national fragmentation, describing them as entities skilled in inciting national crises and religious destruction.
He emphasized that disagreement must never be allowed to turn into offense, reaffirming that the standard must remain rooted in human conscience and ethical responsibility, especially as Lebanon faces mounting external pressure.
Sheikh Ahmed Qabalan also reaffirmed the national role of Bechara Al-Rahi, stating that His Beatitude Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi is a legitimate national partner entitled to responsible positions, while firmly rejecting any attempt to transform political differences into sectarian hostility.
Shiite Community Bears Greatest Injustice
In the second part of his statement, Sheikh Ahmed Qabalan declared that the Shiite community has endured the greatest injustice in Lebanon, despite decades of sacrifice in defense of the nation.
He stated that if loyalty to Lebanon and its sovereignty were defined as a sect, it would be embodied by the Shiite community, underscoring what he described as its historic commitment to the country.
Warning Against Sedition and National Collapse
Sheikh Ahmed Qabalan warned of what he called “masked sedition” and “dirty political investment” aimed at pushing Lebanon toward national collapse, particularly through efforts that support direct negotiations with what he described as terrorist Israel.
He cautioned against falling into sectarian destruction, warning that certain actors are seeking to dismantle Lebanon’s historical unity and ignite Christian–Muslim hostility.
“There is no greater danger to Lebanon than those who promote religious strife and sectarian conflict,” Sheikh Ahmed Qabalan stressed.
Concluding his remarks, he emphasized that the central duty of all Lebanese communities is to serve the nation and preserve its unity.
“The fundamental commandment is to serve Lebanon—not to become fuel for national destruction,” Sheikh Ahmed Qabalan stated.
The Full Statement
Out of general responsibility and what it entails, I say: our religious and national heritage and ethics do not permit any offense, no matter how much we disagree with the other side. The Christian community, like the rest of the Lebanese communities, is a solid pillar and a constituent partner in this dear country. None of us commits or promotes offense.
We do not fear those who criticize responsibly for the sake of Lebanon; rather, we fear those who turn paid criticism into a profession in order to burn Lebanon. There is no greater danger to this country than Zionist-aligned media outlets that are skilled in the game of national massacres and religious destruction.
His Beatitude Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi is a national partner and has the right to a responsible position, and we categorically reject that disagreement be turned into offense. The standard is human and ethical conscience, and what is required for this country crucified on the cross of Zionist terrorism.
None of us deviates from the dignity of Jesus Christ and the Prophet Muhammad, and the obligations of the heavenly covenants and their balance. Rather, the concern lies in the dens of the regional and international game and those who align with it inside Lebanon. What is required of the Shiite community at the national level is equally required of the Christian community.
For the sake of history, I say: there is no grievance in this country greater than the injustice suffered by the Shiite community, despite what it has offered to this dear nation for decades. If loyalty to Lebanon and its sovereignty were a sect, then loyalty would be the Shiite sect.
What we fear is the sedition of queues and masks, and the game of dirty investment that serves the project of national suicide supporting direct negotiation with terrorist Israel. Beware of falling into the sedition of sectarian destruction, for there are those who want the destruction of Lebanon and the tearing apart of its historical unity.
There is no greater danger to Lebanon than those who promote religious sedition and Christian–Muslim hostility. The fundamental commandment is to serve Lebanon, not to be fuel for national incinerators.
