Lavrov Discusses Nuclear and Regional Developments with Araghchi
Lavrov tells Araghchi that Russia supports regional consultation mechanisms and affirms commitment to close coordination with Iran
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, held a phone conversation on Monday with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to discuss the latest bilateral, regional, and international developments.
During the call, Araghchi highlighted ongoing diplomatic initiatives and consultations with regional counterparts, stressing the need to continue and accelerate dialogue and cooperation within a shared regional framework.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also reaffirmed Tehran’s continued cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), rejecting the so-called “snapback” claims raised by certain Western states.
He emphasized that the Agency “must remain impartial and avoid actions that would increase tensions.”
Moscow Supports Emerging Regional Consultation Framework
Lavrov welcomed the emergence of a regional consultation and cooperation framework and declared Russia’s readiness to maintain close and ongoing coordination with Tehran.
He also referred to Russia’s efforts at the United Nations, underscoring the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, and rejected any measure that would “ignore the rights of the Palestinian people.”
Coordination Ahead of IAEA Board of Governors Meeting
Both sides discussed the upcoming IAEA Board of Governors meeting, reiterating that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful. Tehran and Moscow agreed to coordinate their positions and pursue joint cooperation within this context.
Araghchi and Lavrov additionally reviewed the latest status of bilateral cooperation, including consular matters between the two countries. (PW)
