Larijani: The Judiciary Must Deal Decisively Against Rioters
Larijani urges judiciary to confront violence, arson, and organized insecurity disguised as protests
Iran | PUREWILAYAH.COM — Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, has stressed the need for decisive judicial action against elements fueling insecurity, violence, and the destruction of public and private property amid recent riots in several Iranian cities.
Speaking in an interview with IRIB, Larijani said the Judiciary must firmly confront those who create insecurity, kill civilians, and vandalize public assets under the cover of unrest.
Distinguishing Legitimate Protests from Organized Riots
Larijani emphasized the necessity of clearly distinguishing between legitimate public protests and organized riots.
He noted that while some citizens had expressed rightful grievances over economic difficulties, an organized and destructive current quickly intervened to divert these demands toward violence and chaos.
According to Larijani, this deliberate shift transformed social demands into acts of arson, vandalism, and bloodshed, undermining public safety and stability.
Rioter Violence Mirrors Terrorist Tactics
Larijani warned that criminal actions carried out during the riots—including killings, arson attacks, and coordinated sabotage—closely resemble the tactics employed by terrorist groups such as Daesh (ISIS).
He cautioned that such violence serves only to harm society, destabilize national security, and deepen economic stagnation.
In recent days, monarchist-backed rioters have vandalized public and private properties across multiple cities, blocked streets, attacked administrative buildings and police stations, and injured members of security and law enforcement forces. Several civilians and security personnel have been killed or wounded as a result of the unrest.
Larijani reaffirmed that confronting such organized violence is essential to safeguarding public order, protecting citizens, and preventing further destabilization of the country. (PW)
