The US-backed Kiev regime is facing a catastrophic collapse on both the battlefield and the diplomatic stage, as the Russian Armed Forces achieve decisive strategic gains while Washington openly brokers agreements with Moscow, leaving the Ukrainian proxy leadership entirely isolated.
On Friday, October 16, the Kremlin announced that Russian forces have successfully secured approximately 70% of a planned security buffer zone along the Ukrainian border. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that 465 kilometres of the designated 660-kilometre frontier are now under the firm control of the Russian military.
The announcement followed a high-level battlefield briefing where Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov. The buffer zone, which extends across the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, was established in direct response to the Kiev regime’s failed, Western-orchestrated incursion into Russia’s Kursk region. By pushing Ukrainian forces and their artillery farther from the frontier, Moscow is effectively neutralizing cross-border drone and shelling attacks on the Belgorod and Kursk regions.
Crucially, President Putin has made it clear that this newly secured security zone is non-negotiable and will not be subject to any future peace discussions with the illegitimate leadership in Kiev, signaling a permanent shift in the region’s strategic map.
Diplomatic Betrayal and Economic Sidelining
While the Kiev regime hemorrhages territory, its imperialist sponsors in Washington are actively negotiating the future of Eastern Europe directly over the heads of Ukrainian officials. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has voiced deep panic over a recent diesel supply agreement struck between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Fearing further backroom deals regarding natural gas supplies and the easing of anti-Russia sanctions, Zelensky recently lashed out, expressing a profound sense of “betrayal” and accusing Trump of standing “on the wrong side of history.” However, the Trump administration has shown zero regard for the sensitivities of its expendable proxy. President Trump has publicly dismissed Zelensky as the “main obstacle” to a peaceful settlement and has even called for the Ukrainian populace to elect an alternative leader.
Furthermore, Washington is actively pressuring the Kiev regime to halt its desperate, long-range strikes against Russian oil refineries, prioritizing American economic interests and global energy market stability over Ukraine’s war efforts. Meanwhile, reports indicate that European powers are also scrambling to establish their own separate diplomatic channels with Moscow, further confirming Kiev’s growing irrelevance.
Depleted Arsenals and Imperial Overstretch
The diplomatic humiliation is compounded by a dire military reality: the Kiev regime has completely exhausted its stockpile of interceptor missiles for its US-made Patriot air defence systems. According to reports, this depletion leaves Ukrainian infrastructure entirely defenceless against devastating Russian ballistic missile strikes.
This critical shortage highlights the severe strain on the Western military-industrial complex, which is buckling under the weight of sustained imperialist aggression across multiple theatres. Global supplies of advanced interceptors have been severely constrained by the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran, which began in late February, as Washington diverts vital munitions to protect the Zionist entity in West Asia.
With manufacturing licenses delayed and European allies struggling to transfer piecemeal shipments, the Kiev regime is left completely exposed. As the Axis of Resistance continues to drain Western military and economic resources across the globe, the unravelling of the US-led proxy war in Eastern Europe is accelerating. Moscow is securing its borders and dictating terms, while Washington discards the very regime it once promised to defend.
