Jordan Base Served as Outpost for US Operations Against Iran: RIA
RIA Novosti, citing an informed source, reported that the United States used Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base as its main regional hub for operations against Iran after Saudi Arabia and the UAE refuse
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM – Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base served as the principal regional outpost for US military operations against Iran during the final stage of the recent war, according to an informed source cited by Russia’s RIA Novosti.
The source said the base became the operational center for American missions against the Islamic Republic during what was described as the final phase of the “60-day war.”
Jordanian Base Became Washington’s Main Operational Hub
According to the source, Muwaffaq Salti Air Base assumed a central role in supporting US operations against Iran as military activities reached their final stage.
“During the final stage of the so-called 60-day war, Muwaffaq Salti served as a regional outpost for American operations against Iran,” the source told RIA Novosti.
The source added that Washington had few alternatives available for conducting such operations in the region.
Saudi Arabia and UAE Denied Airspace Access
The source stated that the United States turned to Jordan after its closest Gulf partners declined to provide access for the operation.
According to the report, both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates refused to allow US forces to use their airspace, making the Jordanian base the primary operational platform.
Iran and the United States later signed a memorandum remotely during the night of June 18, bringing an end to the military conflict that had begun on February 28.
Iran Previously Detailed Operations Launched from Jordan
The RIA report is consistent with Iran’s earlier position presented to the United Nations.
Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, previously informed UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the President of the UN Security Council that repeated attacks against Iran had been launched from Jordanian territory and airspace.
According to Iravani, fighter aircraft stationed at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base—including F-15, F-16, and F-35 aircraft—participated in strikes against Iran after receiving aerial refueling over Jordanian airspace. He also stated that US KC-46 and KC-135 tanker aircraft supported those operations.
Iran further warned that any country allowing its territory or airspace to be used for attacks against the Islamic Republic would expose US military bases on its soil to Iranian military operations. (PW)
