Israeli Soldiers Admit Helplessness Against Hezbollah Drones in South Lebanon
Occupation troops say their only defense against Hizbullah’s increasingly sophisticated drones is to run for shelter as casualties mount and commanders resort to fishing nets for protection.
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Israeli soldiers deployed in southern Lebanon have acknowledged growing helplessness in the face of Hezbollah drone operations, admitting that their primary response to incoming unmanned aircraft is simply to run toward shelters.
The admissions, cited by Arab and Israeli media, underscore the mounting pressure on occupation forces as Hizbullah continues to refine its drone warfare capabilities, including the use of fiber-optic-guided explosive drones that Israeli analysts describe as a major operational challenge with no effective solution.
“Our Only Real Response Is Running to Shelters”
A reserve soldier who has reportedly served nearly 500 days since the beginning of the war and is currently on his sixth deployment in Lebanon described living under constant threat.
“We have no real response to these drones except running to shelters,” the soldier said.
According to his testimony, drone alerts sound several times each day, and some attacks have resulted in direct casualties. He noted that newer Hizbullah drones are extremely difficult to hear, increasing the danger to troops operating in open terrain.
Another soldier expressed frustration at the occupation army’s inability to counter relatively inexpensive drones despite possessing advanced missile interception systems.
“We do not understand how the army can intercept targets outside the atmosphere, yet remain helpless against cheap drones,” he said.
Fishing Nets and Public Donations Replace Military Solutions
Israeli media reports indicate that troops stationed in southern Lebanon have resorted to rudimentary protection measures, including fishing nets purchased through donations from Israeli civilians.
Rather than receiving adequate defensive equipment from the military, field commanders have reportedly turned to social media to raise funds for basic protective gear.
“Instead of the army providing life-saving equipment, officials are collecting money from civilians to buy nets and protective materials,” one soldier said.
The improvised measures reflect what observers describe as a deep operational crisis within the Israeli military as it struggles to adapt to low-flying drone threats.
Hizbullah Expands Drone Tactics
Israeli soldiers also reported that Hizbullah has adopted increasingly sophisticated tactics.
According to one account, the resistance movement frequently launches a second drone after an initial strike to target rescue and evacuation teams, significantly increasing the danger to both troops and medical responders.
The tactic mirrors battlefield methods designed to disrupt emergency response and magnify the psychological impact on occupation forces.
Casualties Mount in Lebanon Front
The Israeli military has acknowledged that more than 100 soldiers have been wounded by explosive drone attacks during the fighting in Lebanon, while at least three troops have been killed.
The figures highlight the growing strategic significance of drone warfare on the Lebanon front and the increasingly effective use of low-cost precision technology by Hizbullah.
Despite repeated claims by Israeli military officials that new radar systems, short-range weapons, and additional protective measures are being developed, testimonies from soldiers on the ground suggest the occupation army remains without a reliable answer to one of the most potent weapons in Hizbullah’s expanding arsenal.
