Israeli Official: Yemen Won’t Back Down Until Gaza Blockade Ends
Haimovich stated that Israel, like the US, knows that Yemen cannot be deterred by aerial bombardments, not in a month and a half of air campaigns, and not in 19 months of Israeli-led aggression
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - A Zionist official has stated that the Israeli occupation must become accustomed to missiles coming from Yemen and normalize their occurrence for as long as the aggression and blockade on Gaza continue.
The statement came from Zvika Haimovich, former commander of Israel’s air defense forces, who emphasized that Israel knows it cannot deter the Yemenis through airstrikes alone.
He pointed out that the only real solution to halt missile attacks from Yemen is to end the aggression and blockade on Gaza. Until then, he said, Israel will be forced to rely on “imperfect air defense systems.”
Airstrikes Won’t Stop Yemen
In an article published on the Hebrew-language news site Walla, Haimovich stated that Israel, like the United States, knows that Yemen cannot be deterred by aerial bombardments — not in a month and a half of air campaigns, and not in 19 months of Israeli-led aggression.
He stressed that wars and military campaigns cannot be won through airstrikes alone, and certainly not against a nation as geographically distant as Yemen, which lies approximately 2,100 kilometers away from the occupied territories.
Yemen’s Air Blockade Causing Major Economic Damage
Haimovich, who currently serves as an advisor at the Mind Israel research organization, noted that the air blockade imposed by the Yemeni Armed Forces on Israel is not yet complete, but its impact has been felt strongly in the past two weeks.
He highlighted that dozens of international airlines have suspended their flights, causing what he described as enormous economic losses.
He attributed these disruptions to Yemeni threats and the continued launching of missiles and drones, which have delayed the return of airline operations to the occupied territories.
Key to the Solution: End the Aggression and Release the Prisoners
Haimovich argued that the key to ending Yemeni missile attacks lies in ending the war on Gaza and releasing the hostages.
Such steps, he said, would immediately lead to a halt in attacks targeting Israeli-occupied territory.
“Until then,” he added, “millions of settlers will be forced to flee to bomb shelters every few days or more, with sirens blaring, hoping that the air defense systems intercept Yemeni missiles.
Meanwhile, we’ll keep hearing from time to time about new Zionist assaults targeting the same air and sea ports in Yemen — and so the cycle continues.”
Yemen Prepared for Long-Term Confrontation
In conclusion, Haimovich warned that the Yemenis are capable of continuing this strategy of missile launches for an extended period, as they possess production capacity, supply chains, and ideological motivation.
“This is what an endless war looks like,” he concluded. (PW)
