Aslih Previously Injured in April Attack That Killed Fellow Journalists
On April 7, journalist Hilmi Al-Faqaawi and young man Yousef Al-Khazandar were martyred, and several journalists, including Hassan Aslih, were injured in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a journalists’ tent adjacent to the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis.
At the time, the Israeli occupation announced that the strike specifically targeted Hassan Aslih. That day, he sustained amputations of two fingers on his right hand and a head injury caused by shrapnel to his skull. Doctors were able to remove the fragment in a surgical operation.

The Government Media Office announced that the number of martyred journalists has risen to 215 since the start of the genocide against the Gaza Strip, following the assassination of journalist Hassan Aslih.
The office mourned the loss of Aslih, who was the director of the Elm24 News Agency, and condemned his assassination by Israeli occupation forces while he was undergoing treatment from a previous assassination attempt.
In the strongest terms, the Government Media Office condemned the deliberate and systematic targeting, killing, and assassination of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation. It called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all press organizations around the world to condemn these systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media personnel in the Gaza Strip.
The Office held the Israeli occupation, the United States administration, and countries complicit in the genocide—including the United Kingdom, Germany, and France—fully responsible for committing this heinous and barbaric crime.
It further called on the international community, global organizations, and all entities concerned with journalism and media around the world to condemn these crimes, pressure for an immediate end to the genocide, ensure the protection of journalists in Gaza, and work to prosecute Israeli war criminals in international courts.
