Israeli Media: Netanyahu Promoted False Victory Narrative
Senior military and political figures say the agreement neither disarmed Hamas nor achieved Israel’s declared war objectives
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing growing criticism from within Israel’s political and military establishment, accused of falsely portraying the recently approved Gaza ceasefire as a strategic success.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, a senior Israeli official stated that Netanyahu is promoting the deal as an achievement, despite the fact that it “does not secure Hamas’s surrender nor the disarmament of Gaza.”
The criticism emerges just days after Israel’s cabinet ratified the U.S.-sponsored ceasefire plan proposed by President Donald Trump, amid deep internal divisions over the failure to meet the war’s original objectives.
Military Voices Warn of Strategic Failure
Retired Major General Yitzhak Brick issued a blunt warning, insisting that Netanyahu’s promise to “eliminate Hamas” has collapsed in reality.
“Netanyahu’s goal has not held up on the ground, and continuing the war will isolate Israel internationally,” Brick cautioned.
In an article published in Maariv, Brick dismissed claims that Israel’s military pressure forced Hamas into the agreement, stating:
“Military pressure did not lead Hamas to accept the deal. Had the war continued under Netanyahu’s vision, Israel would have reached a dead end.”
His comments reflect growing alarm within Israel’s security circles over the political and diplomatic cost of prolonging the conflict.
Analysts Admit: Hamas Still Governs Gaza
Israeli media have acknowledged that the core objectives of the war—namely, toppling Hamas and dismantling the Resistance—have failed.
Avi Issacharoff, a senior analyst at Yedioth Ahronoth, told Channel 12:
“The primary goal set two years ago — to overthrow Hamas — has not been accomplished. Hamas remains the governing authority in Gaza.”
Issacharoff added that even under ceasefire conditions:
“Hamas fighters are still on the streets, armed, masked, armored, and visibly maintaining order and governance.”
As internal criticism mounts, observers warn that Netanyahu’s political narrative is unraveling, revealing a stark reality: after two years of war, Israel has neither defeated Hamas nor reshaped Gaza — it has only deepened its internal crisis. (PW)
