Israeli General Admits Failure, Gaza War Inflicts Heavy Losses
Retired General Yitzhak Brik confirms thousands of deaths, massive psychological trauma, and deep military, financial, and diplomatic setbacks as “Israel” fails to achieve its objectives in Gaza.
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Israel” has suffered more than 2,000 fatalities and tens of thousands of injuries during its war on Gaza, according to a public admission by retired Israeli Reserve General Yitzhak Brik.
Speaking in an interview with Israeli Channel 13, Brik acknowledged the scale of losses, stating:
“In reality, we have lost national and social resilience over these two years, along with hundreds of billions of shekels.”
He further admitted that “Israel” has failed to defeat Hamas, confirming that the prolonged war has produced neither military victory nor strategic deterrence.
“Over the past two years, we have borne severe losses,” Brik said, referring to the extensive human, psychological, and physical toll on Israeli forces and settlers.
Massive Financial and Diplomatic Damage
Beyond battlefield losses, Brik underscored the crippling economic and political consequences of the war.
“We lost budgets, hundreds of billions of shekels, and credibility in the world,”
he stated, adding that US President Donald Trump now views “Israel” as “stagnant and unable to achieve its goals,” prompting direct American intervention.
The remarks amount to a rare and explicit acknowledgment from within the Israeli military establishment that the war has eroded deterrence rather than strengthened it, while severely damaging “Israel’s” international standing.
PTSD and Mental Health Crisis Among Occupation Forces
The Israeli occupation is facing a rapidly escalating mental health crisis among its troops, driven by two years of war on Gaza and continued military aggression in Lebanon and Syria.
According to reports from the Israeli Security Ministry and healthcare providers:
PTSD cases have surged by nearly 40% since September 2023
Projections estimate a 180% increase by 2028
Of the 22,300 soldiers and personnel currently treated for war-related injuries, 60% suffer from post-traumatic stress
The Security Ministry has been forced to expand mental health funding, including a 50% increase in alternative psychological treatments, reflecting the scale of institutional strain.
Maccabi, “Israel’s” second-largest healthcare provider, reported in its 2025 annual assessment that:
39% of military personnel under its care sought mental health support
26% reported symptoms of depression
Rising Suicide Attempts Among Israeli Soldiers
An Israeli parliamentary committee revealed that between January 2024 and July 2025, at least 279 soldiers attempted suicide, with combat soldiers accounting for 78% of the cases.
The figures highlight the deep psychological collapse within the occupation forces, contradicting official narratives of morale and operational success.
War Crimes Abroad, Trauma at Home
Over the past two years, Israeli forces have killed more than 71,000 Palestinians in Gaza and over 4,400 people in southern Lebanon, according to local officials. During the same period, more than 1,100 Israeli troops have also been killed.
Occupation soldiers deployed across Gaza, southern Lebanon, and Syria have described extreme combat conditions, prolonged exposure to violence, and ethical disintegration.
Ronen Sidi, a clinical psychologist and director of combat veteran research at Emek Medical Center, noted that many soldiers are suffering from moral injury—a profound psychological condition caused by participation in or exposure to acts that violate basic human values.
Ongoing Aggression Despite Ceasefires
Despite a US-backed ceasefire agreement announced in October, Israeli forces remain active in over half of Gaza, with continued attacks resulting in the martyrdom of more than 576 Palestinians in recent months.
Israeli troops also remain deployed in southern Lebanon, in direct violation of a US-brokered ceasefire, while occupation forces continue expanding their presence in southern Syria following the collapse of the Assad government.
Looming Regional Escalation
With tensions rising with Iran following the 12-day war in June 2025, experts warn that another large-scale confrontation would further overwhelm an Israeli military already suffering from psychological exhaustion, institutional decay, and strategic failure.
The admissions by senior Israeli figures now expose a reality long denied by official propaganda:
the war on Gaza has not secured “Israel’s” objectives—it has accelerated its military, moral, and strategic erosion. (PW)
