Israeli Forces Expands Occupation in Syria Amid Reports of Secret Normalization Talks
Incursions in Quneitra Coincide with Alleged Israeli-Golan Authority Meetings to Lay Groundwork for Future Normalization
Syria, PUREWILAYAH.COM – The Israeli occupation continues to expand its control in southern Syria, with military movements reported in several villages in the Quneitra countryside.
These developments come as reports emerge of covert negotiations between Israeli officials and representatives from the so-called Golan authorities, allegedly aiming to formalize normalization of ties.
Israeli Incursions in Quneitra Countryside
Syrian sources confirmed on Sunday that Israeli occupation forces have advanced into the villages of Ayn Ziwān and Suweisah in southern Quneitra.
The latest intrusions follow earlier movements in the same region, where Israeli troops entered Eastern al-Samdanīyah in the morning, conducting house searches and field operations—amid total silence from Golan-based authorities.
In a further escalation, Israeli forces reportedly set fires west of Breqa and Bir Ajam villages in southern Quneitra, adding environmental damage to their military incursions.
Parallel U.S. Operations in Eastern Syria
Coinciding with the Israeli actions in the south, U.S. military forces carried out an airborne landing operation in Abu al-Naytel, a village in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The maneuver involved three helicopters and marks a notable increase in direct American military engagement in Syria’s eastern regions.
Reports of Secret Normalization Talks
Adding to the tense atmosphere, Hebrew-language media reported on “official-level movements” between Israeli representatives and the so-called Golan authorities.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, secret meetings were held in Azerbaijan between Israeli and Syrian Golan officials, under pressure from former U.S. President Donald Trump, to explore what was described as “gradual understandings” toward normalization.
Other Israeli and American outlets echoed the reports, suggesting that the Golan authorities are preparing to announce the formal normalization of relations with the Israeli occupation.
If confirmed, these developments represent a significant shift in the status of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights and the broader trajectory of Israeli regional integration efforts.
The expansion of Israeli control, coupled with high-level political maneuvers, signals growing pressure to redraw long-standing boundaries of resistance and occupation in the region. (PW)
