Israeli Fire Hits Rafah Aid Site: Gazans Killed, Injured, Missing
The Palestinian Center for Missing and Forcibly Disappeared Persons confirmed the incident and voiced deep concern over the disappearance of several civilians who had gone to the aid site
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Three Palestinian civilians were reported martyred and at least 46 others injured after Israeli occupation forces opened fire near an aid distribution site operated by an American company in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident was confirmed by Al Jazeera’s correspondent and further supported by an official statement from the Palestinian Center for Missing and Forcibly Disappeared Persons, which expressed deep concern over the disappearance of several civilians who had gone to the aid site.
Civilians Disappear While Seeking Aid
In a statement released Tuesday evening, the center reported that a number of Gazans went to the aid distribution point in Rafah earlier that day, but have not returned home since. No confirmed information is available regarding their whereabouts.
The Palestinian Center for Missing Persons held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the incident and called for an immediate disclosure of the fate of the missing. It also urged for safe and just conditions to be ensured for all humanitarian aid operations in Gaza.
Warning of a Worsening Humanitarian Crisis
The center further warned of the growing risk of such tragedies recurring, given the ongoing state of lawlessness and the lack of protection guarantees for civilians in dire need of humanitarian assistance.
As an emergency response, the center encouraged the public to report any cases of missing individuals through the official link provided, to assist in documentation and search efforts. (PW)
