Israeli Employee Arrested on Charges of Spying for Iran
Suspect accused of gathering footage of tourist sites and security locations near Jordan border, including information on Israeli minister Ben-Gvir
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - An Israeli citizen working at a hotel in the Dead Sea region has been arrested on allegations of spying for Iran, according to Ynet news outlet.
Ynet reported that the suspect, an employee at a hotel near the Dead Sea, is accused of providing sensitive information on hotels and tourist sites in southern occupied Palestine to foreign hostile entities.
He is also alleged to have collected information on Israel’s Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir.
Alleged Activities and Evidence
According to the indictment filed by the Southern District Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect had been in contact with foreign actors throughout 2024 — including during the 12-day war in June — and transmitted information via Telegram.
Prosecutors claim he:
Filmed multiple hotels in the Dead Sea area
Captured footage inside hotel premises and nearby observation points close to the Jordanian border
Walked along a road in the Dead Sea region while filming the entire route, allegedly at the request of his handlers
Ynet claims that numerous Israelis undertook “various intelligence actions” inside Israel during the 12-day conflict last year. The newly arrested individual is described as one of those suspected participants.
The case marks another reported instance of espionage activity linked to Iran inside Israel, as authorities continue to pursue individuals accused of providing intelligence to foreign entities. (PW)
