Israeli Authorities Accuse Russian Citizen of Spying for Iran
Prosecutors claim suspect filmed ports, military facilities, and naval assets in the occupied territories
Palestine | PUREWILAYAH.COM — The public prosecution of the Israeli occupation authorities announced on Friday that a Russian citizen residing in the occupied Palestinian territories has been charged with espionage and transferring information to Iran.
According to the prosecution, the suspect was monitored and subsequently indicted on serious security-related charges linked to alleged intelligence activities.
Indictment Details and Alleged Intelligence Links
The prosecution identified the suspect as Vitaly Zvyagintsev, a Russian national aged approximately 30, who had been living in the occupied territories under a work permit. He was charged before the Central District Court with collecting and documenting what Israeli authorities described as “sensitive information” while maintaining contact with a “foreign entity.”
Israeli security agencies alleged that Zvyagintsev acted under the direction of intelligence elements attributed to Iran, carrying out missions that involved surveillance, monitoring, and photography of sensitive security locations.
The Narrative Around Ports, Military Sites, and Naval Assets
According to the indictment, between October and December 2025, Zvyagintsev allegedly photographed ports, military facilities, and naval vessels, including American and Israeli warships classified as “AMC,” as well as Dolphin-class submarines.
The listed locations include the Port of Eilat, the Port of Haifa, the Port of Ashdod, Herzliya Marina, the Nesher oil refinery area, and the Ramat David Air Force Base, all of which were described by Israeli authorities as strategically sensitive sites. (PW)
