Israeli Army Admits: Disarming Hezbollah Is Impossible
Israeli military abandons goal of disarming Hezbollah, shifting focus to containment, buffer zones, and large-scale destruction along Lebanon’s southern border
West Asia, PUREWILAYAH.COM — The Israeli military has officially acknowledged that disarming Hezbollah is no longer achievable under current conditions, marking a significant shift in its stated war objectives.
Despite months of efforts backed by full U.S. support and the inaction of the Lebanese government, the Israeli occupation army has now admitted that disarming Hezbollah is impossible at this stage and is no longer a primary objective of the war.
Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that Israeli army radio stated the new priority is to push Hezbollah forces approximately four kilometers away from the border.
Hebrew media further indicated that the Israeli army has revised its approach, stepping back from its earlier insistence on full disarmament. Instead, it now defines its core objectives as severely weakening Hezbollah, establishing a deep defensive line, and destroying dozens of homes in frontline villages—mirroring the so-called “Yellow Line” model used in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Officials Signal Strategic Retreat and “Realism”
The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Israeli military officials acknowledged the limitations of their objectives.
“We must be humble on this matter,” the army stated regarding Hezbollah’s disarmament.
Although the Israeli military continues to claim that only it has the authority to disarm Hezbollah—not the Lebanese government or any other entity—it admitted that achieving this goal under current conditions is highly complex.
According to the report, Israeli military command concluded that disarming Hezbollah would require full control over Lebanon and access to all its villages. However, such an objective is now considered unrealistic, with the focus shifting instead to significantly weakening the group.
New Military Plans Focus on Destruction and Buffer Zones
Hebrew sources revealed that Israel’s Northern Command is expected to present a “defensive plan” for the first security zone near the border in the coming days.
This plan reportedly centers on demolishing homes in the first row of southern Lebanese villages, with legal backing provided to facilitate widespread destruction.
Zionist media emphasized that the proposed model in Lebanon is based on the “Yellow Line” approach implemented in Gaza.
In this context, the Israeli occupation army claimed that in any future agreement, residents would not be allowed to return to border villages where Hezbollah operations took place—except for Christian villages.
Ongoing Military Deployment and Escalation in Southern Lebanon
Currently, four Israeli military divisions—91, 146, 36, and 162—are participating in operations in southern Lebanon.
Two of these divisions are tasked with so-called “offensive defense,” while the other two focus on reinforcing defensive positions along the border, alongside conducting occupation, demolition, and clearing operations.
Hebrew sources claim that the objective of these operations is to push Hezbollah forces beyond the Litani River and destroy the infrastructure they have established in southern Lebanon.
Contradictions Expose Collapse of Earlier Israeli Claims
The shift in position stands in stark contrast to recent statements by Israeli leaders.
Just a week ago, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and local officials in the north had promised that Hezbollah’s disarmament was “within reach.” Meanwhile, War Minister Israel Katz repeatedly pledged to continue the war until this objective was achieved.
Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir had also insisted multiple times in recent weeks that Israel would not abandon the goal of disarming Hezbollah.
However, according to Israeli media, the tone within military circles has now become significantly more pessimistic—and more realistic—regarding this objective.
A correspondent for Israel’s Channel 12 described the development as “very surprising,” noting that it directly contradicts all previous official statements.
Lebanese Resistance Warns: Any Buffer Zone Will Be a “Graveyard”
In response to Israeli threats and moves to establish a so-called buffer zone in southern Lebanon, the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc in the Lebanese Parliament declared that any such zone would become a “graveyard for invaders.”
The bloc drew parallels to Israel’s former security belt in southern Lebanon, which ultimately collapsed with the liberation of the region in 2000. (PW)
