Israel Targets Residential Areas in Five South Lebanon Towns
Warplanes Violate Lebanese Airspace, Striking Residential Areas in Meis al-Jabal, Debbine, and Kfar Tebnit. Shortly afterward, airstrikes targeted residential buildings in Borj Qalaouiye and Chehabiye
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM - On Thursday, the Israeli occupation issued threats to attack three towns in southern Lebanon: Meis al-Jabal, Debbine, and Kfar Tebnit.
According to a report, the threatened locations lie within civilian neighborhoods.
Simultaneously, Israeli reconnaissance drones heavily surveilled the area, monitoring the towns under threat.
Shortly after the warnings, Israeli warplanes entered Lebanese airspace and launched two airstrikes on Meis al-Jabal, injuring one civilian.
Lebanese media later reported an Israeli strike on a residential home in Kfar Tebnit, located in the Nabatieh governorate. Another strike also targeted the town of Debbine, in southernmost Lebanon.
Expansion of Threats and Attacks
Following these raids, the Israeli occupation issued further threats against additional areas in southern Lebanon, namely the towns of Borj Qalaouiye and Chehabiyeh.
Shortly afterward, a number of airstrikes targeted residential buildings in both towns, escalating the aggression against civilians.
Lebanese Prime Minister’s Response
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the Israeli threats and strikes, reaffirming that Lebanon is actively engaged in the Quintet meetings.
He questioned Israel’s actions, stating:
“Where is Israel's commitment to these mechanisms? How can it continue to engage in intimidation and aggression, when these meetings are supposed to ensure the full implementation of Resolution 1701 and the cessation of hostilities?”
Salam urged the international community, especially the countries sponsoring the ceasefire agreement, to exert maximum pressure on the Israeli entity to immediately cease its attacks, withdraw from occupied Lebanese territories, halt all violations, and release Lebanese prisoners. (PW)
