Israel Launches Intense Airstrikes on Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley
As usual, occupation regime attempted to justify its violations by accusing Hezbollah of storing weapons and conducting military activities that threaten Israel’s security.
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM — The Israeli occupation army launched a series of violent airstrikes on Thursday targeting various areas across the eastern and western mountain ranges of Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, in what local media described as one of the heaviest bombardments in months.
According to the National News Agency, the attacks were accompanied by intensive low-altitude flights by Israeli warplanes over the Bekaa plains, as explosions echoed through distant mountain areas and thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from multiple targeted sites.
Lebanese media sources confirmed that more than 20 Israeli air raids struck regions in the Bekaa Valley and the outskirts of Hermel, eastern Lebanon.
Israeli Military Admits to Bombing “Hezbollah Targets”
In a statement, the Israeli occupation army claimed its air force had struck “a number of Hezbollah-affiliated targets” in the Bekaa region, alleging that the strikes were “based on intelligence provided by the Military Intelligence Directorate (AMAN).”
The statement further claimed that the raids hit a “training camp used by Hezbollah fighters,” where occupation forces claimed to have detected personnel present during the attack. It alleged that the site was being used to “train and prepare operatives for planned attacks against Israel.”
The occupation also claimed to have targeted “military infrastructure, including a precision missile production facility belonging to Hezbollah, as well as other positions in the Shurbin area of Hermel District, Baalbek-Hermel Governorate.”
As usual, Tel Aviv attempted to justify its violations by accusing Hezbollah of “storing weapons and conducting military activities that threaten Israel’s security,” describing them as a “blatant violation of understandings between Lebanon and Israel.”
Continuous Violations of Lebanese Sovereignty
Earlier the same day, Israeli reconnaissance drones were reported flying at low altitude over Beirut and its suburbs, in yet another flagrant breach of Lebanese airspace that coincided with the aerial bombardment of eastern Lebanon.
Observers note that these recurring incursions — both aerial and territorial — reflect Israel’s ongoing policy of intimidation and aggression, in clear defiance of international law and United Nations resolutions.
U.S. Envoy to Visit Tel Aviv as Israel Escalates
The escalation comes just days before the expected visit of U.S. envoy Morgan Ortagus to the Israeli entity this Sunday, as part of what Washington describes as a diplomatic effort to “maintain the ceasefire and prevent Hezbollah’s rearmament in Lebanon.”
However, resistance sources view the visit as part of a broader Western attempt to constrain Lebanon’s defensive capabilities while turning a blind eye to Israel’s daily crimes and repeated breaches of the truce.
According to reports, Ortagus’ discussions will focus on so-called “international mechanisms” to ensure Hezbollah is prevented from rearming in southern Lebanon — even as Israel continues to violate the very ceasefire it claims to uphold.
Daily Attacks Despite “Ceasefire Agreement”
The Israeli army continues its near-daily assaults on Lebanese territory, causing martyrs and injuries in multiple towns across the eastern and southern regions, while falsely claiming its raids aim to “prevent Hezbollah’s reorganization.”
In October 2023, Israel launched a wide-scale aggression against Lebanon that expanded into a full-scale war by September 2024, leaving over 4,000 martyrs and 17,000 wounded.
Although a ceasefire agreement was reached in November 2024, the occupation has violated it more than 4,500 times, resulting in hundreds of additional martyrs and casualties.
In open defiance of the accord, Israel continues to occupy five Lebanese hills seized during the last war, along with other territories it has held for decades — a reminder that the so-called “ceasefire” remains nothing more than a cover for ongoing occupation and aggression.
Lebanon’s Resistance: Standing Firm
Despite the relentless Israeli bombardment and political maneuvering by Western powers, Lebanon’s resistance remains steadfast. The latest wave of attacks underscores Tel Aviv’s growing frustration and failure to subdue Hezbollah or break Lebanon’s will to resist.
For Lebanon, the path forward remains unchanged — resistance, sovereignty, and steadfastness against an occupation that understands only the language of force. (PW)
