Israel Kills Director of Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, Dr. Marwan Al-Sultan
Palestinian Health Ministry mourns a symbol of medical dedication & resilience as yet another deliberate Israeli strike targets a senior physician and family amid the collapse of Gaza’s health system
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Dr. Marwan Al-Sultan, the director of the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, was martyred on Wednesday as a result of an Israeli airstrike that targeted his home in Gaza City.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza released an official statement mourning Dr. Al-Sultan, calling the attack “another heinous crime” added to the long list of assaults on medical and humanitarian personnel since the start of the aggression on the Strip.
The ministry confirmed that Dr. Al-Sultan was killed alongside members of his family when the Israeli strike hit his home near the 17th Street junction in western Gaza City.
A Pattern of Deliberate Targeting of Medical Personnel
“The targeting of every medical and humanitarian worker is evidence of a bloody strategy and a deliberate premeditated campaign against them,” the ministry declared.
The statement praised Dr. Al-Sultan as a symbol of devotion, endurance, and loyalty in the most difficult and dangerous moments endured by the Palestinian people under ongoing aggression.
A Healthcare System on the Brink
Dr. Al-Sultan was widely regarded as one of the leading physicians in northern Gaza and played a vital role in managing the Indonesian Hospital, which has served as a frontline emergency facility for the wounded, especially during the recent escalations.
His assassination comes amid the continued targeting of Gaza’s health infrastructure, which is facing total collapse under ongoing blockade, systematic destruction of hospitals, and the assassination of medical professionals—constituting a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.
