Israel Intensifies Strikes on Southern Lebanon in Ongoing Ceasefire Violations
Multiple towns hit as drones and warplanes target Nabatieh Governorate and border areas
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Southern Lebanon came under heavy Israeli bombardment early Sunday, as multiple locations in the Nabatieh Governorate were targeted, including the highlands of Ali al-Taher and al-Dabsha, as well as the outskirts of Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Kfar Tibnit.
Israeli warplanes launched successive raids on the same sites in rapid succession, while intensive “fire belts” were reported in the mountainous Ali al-Taher region, posing severe risks to residents in Nabatieh al-Fawqa and surrounding areas.
In a separate incident earlier on Sunday, an Israeli drone strike hit a residential home in the border town of Aita al-Shaab. The extent of casualties and damage remains unclear.
Recent Fatal Strike in Nabatieh
On Friday, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health confirmed that a Lebanese citizen was killed when an Israeli drone struck a civilian car in Sir al-Gharbiyeh, Nabatieh district. The attack marked another deadly violation of Lebanese sovereignty.
Thursday saw additional airstrikes targeting the outskirts of al-Qatrani, al-Jarmaq, and al-Mahmoudiyah in southern Lebanon. Israeli drones also dropped four bombs on Kfar Kila, one of which hit a municipal vehicle, causing material damage.
Israeli forces stationed at Roueissat al-Alam fired on the outskirts of Kfar Chouba, while another airstrike hit Jabbour Heights in Western Bekaa, in the Bekaa Governorate.
The intensified assaults come despite the ceasefire announced on November 27, 2024, with Israeli operations continuing across multiple regions of Lebanon. (PW)
