Israel Attacks South Lebanon in Glaring Breach of Sovereignty and Ceasefire
Tel Aviv’s coordinated airstrikes hit multiple towns; Hezbollah issues firm response reaffirming right to resist
LEBANON, PUREWILAYAH.COM — The Israeli occupation army has launched a series of aggressive airstrikes across southern Lebanon in what analysts describe as a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and the November 2024 ceasefire agreement.
According to field reports, Israeli warplanes and drones targeted several towns and villages, including Zawtar al-Sharqiya, Tayr Debba, Aita al-Jabal, Kfar Dounin, and Taybeh.
Two airstrikes hit Taybeh and Aita al-Jabal, both located near the occupied Palestinian-Lebanese border, while another strike destroyed a home in Tayr Debba, wounding one civilian, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
Two additional strikes were recorded in Zawtar al-Sharqiya, in the Nabatieh district, while an Israeli drone targeted Kfar Dounin.
Flames engulfed a residential house in Taybeh following the strike, while other areas witnessed sustained bombardment throughout the night.
Continuous Violations and Aggressive Surveillance
The Israeli occupation army also opened machine-gun fire from its illegal Misgav Am outpost toward nearby Lebanese towns.
Simultaneously, Israeli reconnaissance drones conducted intensive surveillance flights over southern Lebanon at low altitudes, extending even to Beirut, where heavy drone activity has been reported since early morning.
These actions constitute yet another grave breach of the ceasefire agreement brokered last November between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation.
Despite Lebanon’s full adherence to the truce’s terms, “Israel” continues its daily pattern of aggression — carrying out airstrikes, extrajudicial killings, and reconnaissance operations in clear violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty.
Earlier in the day, Al Mayadeen reported that Israeli aircraft struck the outskirts of Toura, in the Tyre district, resulting in one civilian martyr and eight others injured, according to the Health Ministry’s preliminary report.
Hezbollah’s Stance: Commitment to Resistance and National Unity
As “Israel” resumes its aggression in disregard of its international obligations, the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon — Hezbollah — issued a public open letter on Thursday addressing Lebanon’s top three leaders and the Lebanese people.
The statement reaffirmed Hezbollah’s commitment to national unity, sovereignty, and stability, emphasizing the need to build a unified national front in the face of ongoing Zionist aggression and continued violations of the 2024 ceasefire.
Hezbollah underscored that its position seeks to prevent Lebanon from being dragged into indirect negotiations that serve the political and strategic agendas of the Zionist entity and its Western backers.
While Lebanon has honored the terms of the ceasefire, Hezbollah said, “Israel” continues to violate it by land, air, and sea.
The group denounced these hostilities and the political blackmail accompanying them as part of Israel’s broader campaign to impose submission on Lebanon and extract concessions aligned with its regional ambitions — including the forcible annexation of the West Bank.
Hezbollah warned that the Zionist regime’s aggression targets Lebanon as a whole, aiming to dismantle the country’s capacity for resistance, weaken the state, and subjugate it to Zionist and Western control.
“As a founding component of Lebanon, the nation we are committed to as a final homeland for all its children,” the statement read, “we reaffirm our legitimate right to resist occupation and aggression. Legitimate defense is not a matter of ‘war or peace’ decisions; it is the exercise of our right to resist an enemy that imposes war upon our land and seeks to subdue our state.”
Hezbollah concluded by urging all Lebanese factions to stand united in defense of the nation’s sovereignty and dignity, declaring that national unity remains Lebanon’s strongest line of defense against foreign aggression and interference. (PW)
