IRGC Tests New Military Technologies Amid US Pressure, Warns of Decisive Retaliation
Large-scale exercises showcase layered firepower and coordination, while Tehran rejects US pressure and reiterates deterrence-first doctrine
Iran | PUREWILAYAH.COM — The Ground Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have concluded a major military exercise across Iran’s southern provinces and island territories, unveiling new technologies and operational tactics designed to reinforce security along the country’s southern maritime frontiers.
The drills were conducted across multiple provinces and strategic islands in the Persian Gulf, with the IRGC’s Madinah Munawwarah Base serving as a central operational hub. Iranian commanders said the exercise focused on enhancing combat readiness through the integration of newly developed weapons systems and multi-layered coordination.
New Weapons Systems and Layered Firepower Tested
According to Iranian officials, the maneuvers included controlled live-fire operations specifically calibrated to the technical range and performance parameters of newly introduced weapons.
The drills emphasized synchronized engagement across several operational layers, reflecting a shift toward more complex and integrated battlefield doctrines.
Commanders described the exercise as part of a broader defensive strategy aimed at safeguarding Iran’s southern coastline and maritime approaches, which remain under constant surveillance amid heightened foreign military activity in the region.
The IRGC said the drills successfully tested coordination between units, command-and-control systems, and modern combat technologies, underscoring Iran’s capacity to respond across multiple domains if threatened.
Defense Minister: Iran Does Not Seek War, But Will Respond Decisively
Speaking on Tuesday as the exercises continued, Iran’s Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh stated that Tehran does not seek war but will respond forcefully if conflict is imposed on the country.
Nasirzadeh warned that any aggression would be met with a response that would “teach the enemies an unforgettable lesson,” reiterating Iran’s long-standing position that deterrence, not escalation, underpins its military posture.
He stressed the importance of preserving the sovereignty of regional states and firmly rejected foreign interference in regional affairs, describing external meddling as a persistent source of instability imposed by extra-regional powers.
US Military Buildup and Coercive Pressure
The remarks come as the administration of US President Donald Trump continues to expand American military deployments across West Asia, openly threatening Iran with aggression should negotiations fail.
Washington’s posture has been accompanied by coercive rhetoric and intensified military signaling, reinforcing Tehran’s assessment that US policy remains rooted in pressure rather than genuine diplomacy.
Despite this environment, Iran and the United States recently held a second round of indirect talks in Geneva, mediated by Oman, at the residence of Oman’s ambassador. Iranian officials described the discussions as constructive, with another round expected next month, according to reports cited by Reuters.
Government Spokesperson: Diplomacy Backed by Full Deterrence
Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani reiterated that Tehran prioritizes diplomacy over war and is pursuing negotiations seriously, while simultaneously maintaining full military readiness.
Speaking at her weekly press briefing, Mohajerani said Iran’s armed forces are monitoring “every threat” and are fully prepared to respond to any hostile scenario. She noted that recent military exercises demonstrated the country’s preparedness across a wide range of contingencies.
She emphasized that Iran will employ “all deterrent measures” necessary to protect its national interests, making clear that diplomacy is not pursued from a position of weakness.
Expanding Military Coordination
In recent days, Iran also conducted joint naval drills with Russia in the Gulf of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean, highlighting deepening military coordination between the two countries amid mounting Western pressure.
The exercises were presented as part of efforts to ensure maritime security and counter destabilizing foreign military presences in regional waters.
Addressing domestic issues, Mohajerani underscored the importance of dialogue with students and broader segments of society, calling for rational engagement without crossing what she described as national “red lines.”
She warned that Iran’s adversaries are attempting to sow internal division and promote false narratives, arguing that the current period requires heightened national unity and cohesion in the face of external threats.
The latest IRGC drills and official statements collectively signal Tehran’s message: Iran continues to favor diplomacy, but remains fully prepared to confront any aggression driven by US coercion and militarization of the region. (PW)
