In a significant victory for the Axis of Resistance and a humiliating setback for American espionage, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced the successful capture of a highly advanced US unmanned submarine at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.
The interception was carried out during a complex and meticulously planned intelligence and military operation at dawn. According to the IRGC, the captured vessel is one of the most sophisticated smart, unmanned submarines in the US military’s arsenal, equipped with cutting-edge underwater technology.
Iranian media has identified the captured vehicle as the Dive-LD, an autonomous underwater vehicle manufactured by the US defence contractor Anduril Industries. The state-of-the-art drone, which was only recently delivered to the US Navy in 2025, boasts formidable capabilities. Weighing nearly three tons and measuring 5.8 meters in length, it is designed for long-duration, deep-water missions. The submarine can operate independently underwater for up to 10 days and reach staggering depths of 6,000 meters.
Its modular, 3D-printed design allows the US military to rapidly deploy various sensors for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), mine warfare, and subsea precision placement. However, these advanced capabilities were no match for the vigilance and technological superiority of the IRGC Navy. The IRGC confirmed that footage of the captured US spy drone will be published in the coming hours.
This maritime triumph comes on the heels of another major defensive success earlier the same day. The Iranian Army announced that its air defence systems successfully shot down an American MQ-1 spy drone over the skies of Bandar Abbas, near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
These back-to-back interceptions underscore the Islamic Republic’s absolute readiness and impenetrable defences against continuous US attempts to violate its sovereignty and spy on its strategic assets.
